    If there’s one takeaway from my experience, it’s to stay far away from Country Mile Moving. Get absolutely everything in writing, because even what’s in writing doesn’t seem to hold up with them. Be ready to file a BBB complaint and fight to get your money back, downpayment, or belongings if they disappear on you. They use someone named Matthew Hathaway, who comes off very cheerful and eager at first while trying to get the down payment from you. He says he’ll be your main contact, but after that you’ll never hear from him again. I was quoted just over $3,200 for a move from the Midwest to the West Coast, and Matthew told me that if I changed locations, the downpayment could still be applied even if the destination and estimate changed. Later, the owner Mike and his salesperson Nicole told me that even though I was moving one neighborhood over instead of 2,500 miles away, the estimate would still be $3,200. They also said I could only use my $1,344 downpayment if I paid the full $3,200 for a one-bedroom apartment move just 5 miles away, which is the exact opposite of what I had been told before. Beyond the obvious scammy behavior, the customer service is terrible and the professionalism is basically nonexistent. Better to hire a cousin to move you than deal with this company.
