So, we rented a car in Split, Croatia, and it turned out to be a bit more complicated than expected. We thought we were all set with our travel insurance covering the deposit, but things went sideways. When we got there, the clerk wouldn't accept my debit cards for the deposit—only credit cards, and they had to match the reservation name. None of us had one that fit the bill, so we ended up having to pay for extra coverage, which doubled our costs. Not ideal, but, on the bright side, the staff was friendly and efficient, making the pickup process a breeze despite the hiccups. Still, it was frustrating not to use debit cards as usual.
