I hired Lugg to move a misdelivered box that was sent to the wrong address in my name. At no point did I request assembly of the item in the box, just pick up and delivery of the box. Without authorization, the drivers opened the box at the pick-up point and assembled the contents (a service which was never requested). I knew something was wrong since I was following the progress of the pickup on Lugg's app, and after the team had been at the pick-up point for half an hour I alerted Lugg by email to the fact that there was a problem. They responded rapidly to let me know they "escalated" the issue (so I know they can respond quickly when they choose to). This is the last exchange I had with them. Subsequent emails from me regarding being overcharged have had no response.
Additionally, I have since discovered that the cardboard from the box and the packing contents were left strewn over the pick-up property. When I received the bill, the cost was over twice the estimate because of the manhours put into assembling the item. And Lugg is ghosting me. They have no public number you can call to speak to someone. I'm stuck with an unreasonable bill that cannot negotiated.
I seriously believe you can do better if you just spend a little more time looking for any other company to deal with whatever you're moving.
