As an IPTA personal trainer, I’ve rediscovered
As an IPTA personal trainer, I’ve rediscovered what it means to create effective exercise programs. After being out of the game for 9 years due to my active duty in the Navy, I’ve only just returned to personal training this year. One thing I’ve learned is the importance of flexibility. Clients sometimes react differently than you expect, and you have to be ready to adapt on the spot. The IPTA CPT has truly revitalized my personal training career. It’s given me a solid foundation and opened up new chances for group exercise classes too. In terms of working with clients, I trained 2 high school varsity soccer players for 6 weeks, focusing on speed, agility, strength, and power. I challenged them with exercises they weren’t familiar with, and they embraced it, making noticeable progress each week. By the end, they had definitely improved from where they started. Through training those soccer players, I discovered that athletes are my preferred clients. Since I’m an athlete myself, I feel I can connect better with them compared to other clients. Looking back at my earlier years as a trainer, I wouldn’t have said the same thing. The best experience I’ve had as a trainer was working with those 2 soccer players.
