After high school, I had plans

After high school, I had plans to dive into computer science but wanted to avoid spending a lot on college. I figured getting certifications was a solid option, and I still believe that. I came across Nucamp, and since it wasn’t too expensive and seemed like a decent place to learn with instructors who had real-world experience, I thought it would be a smart move. However, after paying, I quickly realized what I had signed up for. The introduction was mostly just Ludo reading off a script that felt like it came from ChatGPT (or something else similar that scored 100% on gptzero.me). The rest of the lessons were barely any better. There were "male" and "female" instructors, but honestly, I couldn’t really tell what set them apart. The backend course, at least, assumes you have a basic understanding of JavaScript or a language with procedural and OOP concepts. This is definitely not a beginner-friendly course. It's much better suited for people who already know the basics of computer science. That said, the instructor I had was good and reminded me of Richard Stallman, which I liked. All in all, the backend (Python + SQL + DevOps) course has useful material, but it’s not really designed for those starting from scratch.

I liked how the program mixes theory with practical tasks, allowing you to use what you learn straight away. The flexible schedule also made it simple to stay on track, even with a busy routine. I received an offer for a scholarship from NuCamp

I received an offer for a scholarship from NuCamp, and it seemed like a great chance to start a career in coding. I recently completed the Web Development Fundamentals course, and it was even better than I had hoped. I learned a lot about coding, but I also gained valuable insights into my own strengths and the options I have for my future.
