Qatar Airways: Disappointment in Disguise

Hey all, wanted to share my recent experience with Qatar Airways and why I might be looking for a new airline. I had to reschedule a flight from Zurich to Barcelona due to a medical emergency with my son. I thought it would be simple, but boy was I wrong. First, they charged me an extra $60 to change the flight—okay, fair enough. But then, they wouldn’t transfer the 20kg baggage allowance I had already paid $300 for. They wanted me to pay another $300 for the same baggage! Both cities are in Europe, so why the extra cost? When I asked why I was being charged so much, they said I got "preferred" rates over the phone instead of the bulk rates online. Preferred rates? More like preferred rip-off! Other airlines just transfer the baggage allowance, so why not them? To make matters worse, if I added the baggage to my ticket today, it’d only be about $360 total. So why was I being overcharged? It feels like they’re trying to squeeze every penny out of you, especially when you’re already stressed. I’ve always liked Qatar Airways, but this lack of transparency and customer care is just too much. I was hoping to travel more now that I’m retired, but it looks like I'll be checking out other airlines. If they can’t treat their customers right, maybe it’s time we all look elsewhere.

Stranded and Ignored: Qatar Airways Fails

Qatar Airways has to be one of the worst airlines out there. If everything goes smoothly, then you're fine, but that's a big if. The delays are constant. My daughter's flight from LHR was delayed by an hour, which led to a domino effect of issues. She ended up queuing for two hours and then had to hang around the airport for a whopping 17 hours. The customer service at Hamad International Airport in Doha was no help at all. They told her there were no hotels in the airport, which is a lie because there's clearly the Oryx hotel right there. Instead of helping her, they made her run around from one counter to another, going up and down floors, just to sort out her connecting flights. The inefficiency and lack of coordination were shocking. Denying someone stranded for that long a hotel room is just cruel and probably against aviation laws. Avoid Qatar Airways at all costs.

Qatar Airways: Nightmare Journey and Zero Compensation

Ugh, my recent trip with Qatar Airways was a nightmare. Flew from London Gatwick to Nairobi on June 1st and faced a 20-minute delay in takeoff and landing. With just a 40-minute connection, I missed my flight and had to wait 24 hours for the next one! My return on June 16th was even worse. After a bad holiday in Kenya, my 18:10 flight to London via Doha got delayed to 23:00. No explanation, just stuck in an airport with almost no duty-free for 5 hours. In Doha, my 1-hour connection turned into 4 hours. Again, no reason given. Got back to London super frustrated, applied for compensation, and was flat-out rejected. They said it wasn’t their fault. Really? Best airline, they claim? Even Ryanair is better. Qatar Airways, you really need to step up your game!

Ugh, what a mess! I landed in Sri Lanka on August 8th, 2024, and guess what? My luggage vanished into thin air, thanks to the airline's baggage transfer team. It's been over three days now, and still no sign of my bags. I did all the right things—reported it immediately, called customer service multiple times—but nothing. I mean, seriously, with multiple flights coming in daily, how hard can it be to locate one lost bag? My family's vacation is basically ruined. We're running low on clothes, and my plans are just falling apart. I even need my stuff to pay for my driver and car rental. I heard good things about this airline, but my experience has been a nightmare. Hoping they sort this out quickly, but not holding my breath. Super disappointed.

Flying with Qatar Airways used to be a treat for my family and me, especially in business class. We used to rave about their service. But post-COVID, things have gone downhill. Prices are up, but quality? Way down. Paid extra for some "special" seats, thinking I'd get a peaceful, uninterrupted sleep. Instead, the seat belt was half-broken, and the door wouldn't shut. I recently tried using this site and its mobile app, and let me tell you, it was a complete nightmare. First off, logging in on the website was impossible—kept getting error messages. Oddly enough, I could log in just fine on the mobile app with the same details. But then, when I needed to contact support through the app, it redirected me to a web view where I couldn’t log in again! To make things worse, trying to go back to the app gave me an "Invalid token exception" error. It's like a never-ending loop of frustration. Honestly, it’s been one problem after another, and their support is no help at all. Avoid this mess if you can!

Worst Airline Experience Ever!

I wouldn't even give them a single star if I could. What a joke of an airline. Absolutely no communication about the delays they caused. Delay after delay due to "technical problems." They should just give up on flying and stick to camels. This is definitely the last time I'm flying with them. I tried raising my concerns with customer service, but their response was in such poor English that I didn't understand a thing. Compared to Emirates, these guys are a total disaster. Greetings from a very frustrated customer in Botswana. Check the records and recordings of my calls to your customer service.

Preferred Seats Scam – Avoid Qatar Airways!

Avoid paying for preferred seats! Booked and paid for preferred seats for my family of three on all connecting flights. At check-in, they separated us even though we had reserved and paid for seats together. Sorting it out was a nightmare, and we had to show receipts and make lengthy calls. The whole ordeal made us rush through immigration and nearly miss our flight. Qatar Airways used to be my go-to, but this experience reminded me why I stopped flying with them years ago. Never again will I choose Qatar Airways. Save your money and peace of mind—choose another airline!

A Travel Nightmare

Wow, what a trip that was. Had a flight to London with a layover in Doha, but the first leg got delayed by 90 minutes. Totally missed the connection. Ended up stuck in Doha airport for over 7 hours. When I reached out to complain and ask for some kind of compensation, they just brushed it off saying EU rules don’t apply to them. I’ve got chronic pain and those airport chairs are like torture devices, couldn't even lie down. All I got was a sorry. Felt completely disrespected. Never flying with them again. Their customer service is the worst.

You know, I was really excited to fly with Qatar Airways because everyone says they’re the best. But honestly, I was super disappointed. The managers were just not helpful at all. It felt like they didn't care about any problems I had. I’ve had better service on budget airlines, to be honest. Sure, the planes are new and all, but that’s about it. The customer service was just plain bad. It’s like they don’t even try to live up to their fancy reputation. If you ask me, save your money and fly with an airline that actually treats you well.

I was really nervous about my flight with Qatar Airways this year. Had read tons of bad reports and thought I'd made a huge mistake booking. But I was totally wrong! The whole experience was fantastic. The seats were super comfy, the food was surprisingly good, and the entertainment options kept me busy for hours. And get this, one of us wasn't feeling well on the way back, and they upgraded our seats without us even asking. Made the trip home so much more comfortable. Big thanks to Qatar Airways for going the extra mile!

Surprise Fees and Poor Support

Booked a flight with AA from JFK to BKK, expecting the usual partnership with JAL. To my surprise, it was Qatar this time. Went to select our economy seats on Qatar's site, only to be hit with a $30 fee per seat, per leg of the trip. Nothing about this charge was mentioned on AA's website. Tried chatting with both AA and Qatar customer service, but got no useful information from either. Felt quite misled and frustrated by the whole experience. Would've appreciated clearer communication and better support.

Broken Plane, No Help

I just flew with this airline and it was a nightmare. First, they boarded us onto a plane that was broken, which led to a huge delay. No one bothered to update us properly or offer any help. When we finally got to Doha, there were no connections available and the customer service was terrible. The staff didn't seem to care at all about the passengers. It felt like we were just an inconvenience to them. I can't believe how bad the experience was. Never flying with them again.

Discrimination and Lies on Qatar Airways

I booked a flight with Qatar Airways expecting a smooth journey, but what happened was far from it. The flight attendants were really rude to Asian passengers. It was so obvious and uncomfortable. The purser even lied about some issues when I tried to address them. And to top it off, their agents totally bungled my bag claims and miles claims. I felt like my concerns were just brushed off. Not the kind of service I was hoping for from a big airline like Qatar Airways.

Loyalty Points? More Like Loyalty Disappointment

I booked my flight for May 20/25, thinking I'd scored a great deal with my privilege points. Imagine my shock when, a few weeks later, they dropped the ticket prices even lower than what I paid! What’s the point of being a privilege member if it doesn't guarantee the best deals? They claim loyalty perks, but this experience proves otherwise. Feels like they don’t value their loyal customers at all. Definitely considering other airlines for my next trip.

Beware: Qatar Airport Wifi Hack Risk!

Can't believe what happened with the airport wifi! Was at Maha lounge, Dragon pass wasn’t working, so tried using lounge key and added my Visa Credit Card from Dubai Islamic. Next day, woke up to find AED 1500 gone from my account. Hackers used my money in Qatar at Starbucks, KFC, and QDF. So frustrating and scary. How can this happen at a top-notch airport like Qatar? Beware of using their free wifi, it’s not safe!

Great Flight, Awful Service Nightmare

I gotta say, the whole journey was a mixed bag. Flying was actually pretty sweet, comfy seats and all, but getting to that point was a nightmare. Dealing with ticketing was a mess, and don’t even get me started on the pre-flight support. It was like talking to a brick wall. Honestly, I’d rather spend my money elsewhere next time. This airline just ain’t worth the hassle.

The staff were very helpful and supportive for my son, who has special needs, from Adelaide to Nairobi. On the 23rd July 24’ 11:40am flight, the team was excellent, friendly, caring, and gentle. He got home safely. The way they treated him before the flight made me feel calm and relaxed. I slept well knowing my son was in good hands. Thanks a lot.

I went to London to Saudi Arabia

I went to London to Saudi Arabia on business a year ago. Because my bags were late, I had extra costs. After a year, QA agreed to pay me £237. I still haven't got it. I went to their London office twice. They promised to fix it, but nothing happened.
