Great overall experience

Great overall experience Our daughter mentioned how much she enjoyed herself and how much she learned during the whole week of camp. The Outset team kept us updated from start to finish. Lawson and his team were really involved and gave great support, keeping us informed when our child had an allergic reaction on day 2. Thank you!!!

Our daughter had a great time at Outset. It was a perfect balance of lectures, practical training, and enjoyable activities. She returned with so much insight into what it takes to enter pre-med/medical school and how she can get ready, along with new thoughts on areas she may want to specialize in in the future. I would definitely recommend this program.

This program gave a lot of useful information

This program gave a lot of useful information for people wanting to learn about medicine. The lessons had good advice and practical learning activities. In addition, the program had a wonderful team of staff, speakers, and presenters who made the medical field easier to understand. I would certainly suggest Outset to any teen thinking about a career in medicine.

My daughter gained a lot of knowledge

My daughter gained a lot of knowledge, and Outset really inspired her to think about a career in medicine. As a doctor, I thought the medical cases they explored were interesting, and the chance to practice procedures was a big advantage! It’s great to get a solid understanding of medicine and how to pursue it, even before finishing high school. It’s a real opportunity!

Good balance between academic guidance

Good balance between academic guidance, a clear process for entering the medical field, and practical hospital simulations. I also appreciated the numerous activities outside of class, which gave me a real sense of the college lifestyle at UNC.

Such a wonderful medical program.

Such a wonderful medical program. My daughter really enjoyed the campus, got along well with her roommate, and found the other kids very friendly. The student counselors were kind and helpful, always supporting her and her group. The program itself was very enjoyable and offered lots of good information. She had the chance to try new activities in medicine that she hadn’t imagined before. Overall, this program helped grow her passion and interest in medicine as a future path.

My son took part in the Outset program

My son took part in the Outset program and came back very eager to study medicine. It was a wonderful experience for him. The program had a nice mix of learning and enjoyment. Coming from the west coast, his journey from the airport to UNC and back was smooth thanks to Lawson’s help. Much appreciation to Lawson and the Outset group.

My daughter, who is going into her second year of high school, discovered Outset while seeking to explore a career in medicine. She had a great time in her biology class and admires her grandma's work as a doctor. The camp met all of her hopes. She joined the surgery week and returned home with a greater understanding of the different areas within surgery. She is excited to come back next summer to learn about primary care. As a parent, my goal was for her to have a secure, motivating, and educational time. She did.
