Scheduled an appointment in advance
by Kala

Scheduled an appointment in advance for an oil change and tire rotation. Waited while they did the service. When I checked the bill at home, found out they talked to my fleet provider and said I needed 2 tires, which they got approved without showing me. Tried reaching out multiple times to see if it was true, but Pepboys didn't bother to confirm. Seems like I got tricked. Won't go back there again.

by WarEagleWineGuy

A two-decade customer here. The company's focus has shifted to constant upselling. Recently, needed brake work for my 2018 Toyota Highlander. Received a pricey quote with an insistence on immediate service. Due to time constraints, I opted out. Found a nearby dealership, got the same job with a lifetime warranty for front brakes at less than half the cost quoted. A significant savings of over $700. Won't be returning. Farewell.

The company has shifted its focus
by WarEagle

The company has shifted its focus towards upselling, losing touch with customer needs. Recently, I needed brake pads and rotors for my 2018 Toyota Highlander. Despite receiving a quote, they insisted on immediate service, disregarding my time constraints. The cost was exorbitant, prompting me to explore alternatives. A nearby dealership offered the same services with a front brake lifetime warranty at less than half the quoted price, saving me over $700. Disappointingly, the company's pricing and approach have driven me away for good.

Cautionary tale for those considering
by Sandra

Cautionary tale for those considering Pep Boys at 5 Nj-17 Hasbrouck Heights, NJ 07604. I brought my Honda Fit in to address a coolant leak, and unfortunately, the experience was far from satisfactory. They charged me $1800 to fix the radiator leak, but upon returning home, I discovered a new issue—a troubling oil leak. Returning the car two days later, they asserted that the newfound oil leak had no connection to their recent repairs (just a coincidence, apparently), and demanded an additional $600 to rectify the oil leak that wasn't present before entrusting them with the initial repairs. Consider the risks before letting them service your car. Beware.

I ordered products from this
by Ivy S

I ordered products from this company on 11/2/23 and scheduled the installation for today (11/4/23). I brought my items in around 8:30 am and ran some errands. D'Angelo called me at about 11:30 am, letting me know that everything was ready! All went smoothly, and the entire team provided excellent customer service. I had them install products on my spouse's items back in July this year, and we also use their services for scheduled maintenance. We've never encountered any problems.

Well, it sounds like Noel
by anthony m

Well, it sounds like Noel might not be the best match for the company. Instead of owning up to his shortcomings and working on his customer service game, he's playing the blame game and lacking respect. Plus, that whole talking-under-his-breath thing? Not cool. I wouldn't rely on him in the future. I'll just hold out for anyone else to step in. No promises being kept by this guy, that's for sure.

My goodness, it's like an automotive nightmare!
by Fabiola A

My goodness, it's like an automotive nightmare! You went to Pep Boys to get a wheel alignment after having a tie rod replaced, but the experience turned into a rollercoaster. The attendant hits you with extra charges, like aligning your backup camera, which sounds bizarre. The next day, you almost lost control of your car on the highway! So you went back to Pep Boys, but it got even crazier with more charges for checking the car. They then told you that you needed two lower control arms, which would cost a small fortune. The most frustrating part is that they wouldn't give you your key without payment, and you even had to involve the police. It's a bit of a mess, to say the least. They should've checked your car properly before that alignment, especially since they'd already worked on it. It does seem like they might be a bit lost in the automotive wilderness, and the tire incident with another customer adds to the concerns.
