Also, the washing machine isn’t inside the flat itself, but in the basement, and you need to share it with the coffee shop next door. So, you have to go buy coins there to use the machine. Lastly, the landlord’s work office is in the flat too, so don’t be shocked if you see some people during the day who aren’t living there—they are his clients. Still, I really liked staying here! My room was cozy and comfy, and I felt at home pretty fast. The bathrooms and kitchen have all you need and are quite clean (but it’s important to help with chores to keep the place nice). Also, the location is great if you enjoy bars and shops, and the view of Brüsseler Platz is really lovely!

This has been an absolutely terrible experience and I strongly advise everyone: never book here. I rented an apartment through HousingAnywhere managed by Joivy and what I found upon arrival was completely unacceptable and honestly shocking. From the very first moment things went wrong. We were initially given the wrong key and only later received the correct one. When we finally entered the apartment, it was filthy beyond belief. The kitchen and bathroom were extremely dirty, clearly not cleaned before move-in. But the problem was not just dirt — the apartment was simply uninhabitable. There was no hot water in the shower and the shower itself was broken, with the shower rod detached and unusable. The washing machine looked damaged and in very poor condition. The oven and microwave did not work at all and need replacement. The stovetop was unsafe to use because the extractor hood above it was in such terrible condition that you would not dare to cook underneath it. The mattress was also unacceptable and unhygienic. This means you cannot shower, you cannot cook, and you cannot properly live there. These are basic human needs. An apartment in this state should never, ever be rented out. Trying to get help made everything even worse. The Joivy app, which you are required to use for payments and maintenance requests, did not work from the beginning. Because of this, I could not properly submit maintenance requests. I contacted them via WhatsApp, via the platform, and repeatedly sent photos as proof. Instead of taking responsibility and offering a real solution, I was constantly redirected to other “channels” and told to contact someone else. No one took ownership. No one provided immediate action. Just endless back-and-forth messages while I was standing in an unlivable apartment in a foreign country. On top of that, there are high admin fees, a mandatory final cleaning fee, deposit payments, and strict cancellation conditions. You are expected to pay everything perfectly and on time, yet they do not deliver even the most basic living standards in return. Moving to another country is already stressful enough. Arriving and discovering that your apartment is dirty, broken, and uninhabitable — with no real support — is devastating. This experience caused enormous stress and disappointment. If you are an Erasmus student, an international student, or anyone relocating, please be extremely careful. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend booking with Joivy via HousingAnywhere under any circumstances. This was a horrible experience and I would never book here again.

If I book an apartment as a student and my employment contract is terminated at short notice by my employer, Housing keeps the full rent amount. The tenant, on the other hand, can sublet the apartment and collect double the rent? Example: Tenant 1 rents 6 weeks before moving in in September 2024, gives notice 3 weeks before moving in due to work. Has paid 800 euros, receives no refund. Tenant 2 then rents the same apartment for September 2024, gives notice 2 weeks before moving in due to work. Paid 800 Euro , receives no refund. Tenant 3 then rents the same apartment for September 2024 and moves in. HousingAnywhere collects, including a 250 Euro fee for each tenant, 2100 Euro FOR NOTHING, How can it be that something like this is valid in Europe (EU)? I am paying for a service that is not provided. In my opinion, this is theft. Why has nobody reported this to the Dutch authorities? Why has no one informed the consumer organization? And that there is still no control, for example by the consumer organization. I, for one, am going to take action! I will file a complaint and demand my money back on the basis of an illegal contract.

While the customer service appears polite, their primary interest seems to be retaining the initial payment, with little regard for the evidence provided. A law enforcement officer suggested contacting them immediately when inside the property, as their on-the-spot verification holds more weight. This might offer a slim hope for a potential full refund, but, unfortunately, I'm now left without money and accommodation at the start of the semester. It's advisable to steer clear of this company, as they don't seem to operate with integrity.

My experience with this booking company was incredibly disappointing. They failed to properly manage and vet their properties, which led to numerous problems. Communication with the landlord was terrible, showing a lack of professionalism and care. Students, who are already vulnerable, were treated unfairly, with important information being kept from them and entries into their rooms happening without warning. Requests for help were often ignored, and basic needs weren't always met. Serious issues like pests were ignored, putting residents in danger. In emergencies, there was no support, leaving residents feeling abandoned. Moving out was chaotic, and the landlord only responded when threatened legally. Getting our deposit back was confusing and stressful. Overall, this company's performance was very poor. They didn't address important issues and lacked professionalism. I wouldn't recommend renting from them at all.

Moved in a messy and disgusting home, reported immediately, made fotos, described everything, bought replacements for pillows, blankets etc. Moved out after 1st night. "Tenant protection" is a joke, claiming "When you pay to confirm your stay, your money is safe with us. We send it to the landlord only 48 hours after you move in unless you tell us the place isn't as promised. If you contact us, we'll help you." Support did not help. Had to pay EUR 315,-- tenant protection fee plus half of first months rent for one night. Unbelievable ... Support stopped answering emails. Landlord still talks big. Who gives them the right to judge their customers' money? What arrogance!

I have cancelled the room in the 48 hours cancelling window,i try to phone to housinganywhere.com but i could not reach anyone, i emailed to housinganywhere.com to cancel my renting house, they say you have to sort it out with the contact person. I dont want to sort it out i want my money back. The contact person had to fix the mold issues on first hand before i rent the room. We will order legal assistance. So dont rent with housinganywhere.com, its a big scam

Around ten days ago, I booked a room through HousingAnywhere for December 1st. However, a few days later, I encountered some issues and requested to cancel the reservation. Unfortunately, HousingAnywhere has refused to refund my payment of approximately 1000 euros. Despite notifying them of the cancellation more than 50 days in advance, they have shown no willingness to return my money. I am deeply disappointed with their lack of regard for customers and tenants, as they seem to be more focused on profiting at the expense of others. I strongly believe they are obligated to refund my payment.

I wouldn't advise using this company. Right from the start, the price was raised from the advertised 1400 Euro to over 2000, plus extra charges for a service that doesn't offer much value. The place was far from clean, located in a sketchy area with a lot of drug users, and there were no amenities nearby, despite what was claimed. Also, trying to collect more data through Trustpilot feels unnecessary and off-putting; people should be able to leave reviews without all this extra stuff.
