I signed up with this matchmaking company in October 2023 with high hopes of finding a meaningful connection—ideally, my soulmate. Unfortunately, this experience has been extremely disappointing and feels more like dealing with used car salespeople than professionals genuinely interested in helping people find love. They made all kinds of promises just to get me to sign up and take my money, but none of them were fulfilled. I’ve had seven so-called “matches”—each one completely incompatible and nowhere near the criteria I clearly outlined from the beginning. One match was recently divorced, still referring to his ex-wife as “his wife,” and openly shared that he was dealing with an addictive personality. While he claimed to be sober, he also casually talked about smoking weed at age 45—hardly the stable, emotionally available partner I asked for. What’s worse, the company is unresponsive—they rarely answer phone calls or follow up with care or intention. It’s clear they’re not invested in actually helping their clients. This has been a complete waste of time and money. I strongly advise others to think twice before signing up. What they sell is a fantasy—not a service based on truth, care, or integrity.

This company is a total scam. I’m currently dealing with legal matters and am open to anyone who wishes to join me. Firstly, the person who interviewed me made many promises but then denied them, claiming I misunderstood it all. They don’t provide matches based on what you want; they just throw random people at you to fulfill their contract. They completely deceived my bank by saying I declined the introduction, even though the person wasn't available. Fortunately, I saved their voicemail as evidence for court. PLEASE BE CAUTIOUS AND DON'T BE TRICKED BY THEIR EXCELLENT MARKETING SKILLS THAT SELL YOU FALSENESS.

As a full-time professional and single mother, my time is very limited to go to social events or spend endless hours on dating apps. This service was exactly what I needed—providing a personal, focused, and value-based way to date that fit well with my life and goals. I hadn’t dated for some time and wasn’t sure how to begin again. Really happy I gave Matchmakers a try. During sign up, they asked a lot about me and what I wanted in a partner. Not long after, they set up my first meet. It’s planned to be a relaxed start with no stress. After every date, you tell them how it went, what you liked and what you didn’t. They change your matches depending on your thoughts. When you contact them, they respond. To me, it feels like they care about helping you find the right person. By far, better quality profiles than many dating apps and the way they check profiles saves me so much time. Although I haven't found 'my match' yet, the men I've met have been engaging, successful, smart, and kind. With every match, my matchmaker has improved at figuring out who might work for me, and she is enjoyable to chat with.

They listened, and the first two introductions were genuinely on point. I did expect a slightly faster pace between dates based on our kickoff chat. Still, the feedback loops felt useful and respectful. Worth it if you value curated over endless swiping.

I've seen a lot of reviews for this company, The Matchmaking Company, and they all seem positive, but my experience was different. It started with the cost. It was higher than I expected, but I thought it was worth it if I met the right person. Now, I regret that choice. I should have noticed after the first "date." The woman was forty minutes late and when she finally arrived, she hardly acknowledged me. I could tell from the start that she wasn't interested. She kept glancing around instead of focusing on me. I tried to reach out for a second date, but she ignored me. My next date didn't even show up at all at the agreed time and place. I was furious, so I called the office, and later reached out to the second date again. We finally connected and had lunch, deciding to meet again. We went to a movie and it was just fine. To skip over more dull reviews, I met two other women through this service, and neither felt like a good fit. One kept asking about my past jobs, and the other seemed uninterested right away. That's all for me.

Save your money

No stars to give this company at all. From my perspective, this company promises curated matches but that was not my experience at all. They will spend several hours interviewing you, so of course you will get sucked right into thinking that they will be finding quality matches for specifically designed to meet some of your expressed wishes. Instead, you wait months, and eventually matched with whoever eventually turns up that satisfies the most basic requirements (like the geographic area and age range you are looking for.) The matches I were given seemed to have just about NOTHING at all I was looking for. After a few tries, I decided it wasn't even worth my time to continue with them, so I cancelled and "lost" whatever remaining number of matches I had left. Not a big loss at all. I requested a refund, but didn't expect it and didn't give it. Not to say these guys don't have money. Apparently they have enough money to have a "legal team" so I guess there are plenty of gullible folks just like me. I've had much more success on my own and also using the online site Match. Can't believe I was such a sucker. Maybe you will be more lucky!

Don't Do It

They are the used car salesmen of the matchmaking community. They were more interested in making me feel like I was getting a good deal and making me sign their contract than they were actually finding me a match with any sort of care. Their process is filling out a few multiple-choice options then throwing a dart with their eyes closed. They don't know you nor try to get to know you and they just loosely use their questionnaire to make matches. Everyone knows guys are visual creatures and neither party can see a picture of their match first to see if there is any sort of initial interest. Your given a certain number of matches and make you pay a crazy amount. Life got crazy and I paused my account only to be told I didn't have a pause time because my matchmaker didn't write it in the contract only in the back of the book they gave me so I forfeit my remaining matches so now I'm on the financial hook for what amounted to nothing and was only insulted by the matches they did set me up with. When I tried to work things out with them they didn't call me back as promised and basically told me it was my fault.

Scam

Salt Lake City Matchmakers MISLEADING and FRAUDULENT BEWARE, seriously beware. Matchmakers has you pay a very large amount of money because they know you are vulnerable and pray on your fears. You will fill out multiple pages about what you are looking for, which they will disregard and give you the exact opposite. They don't care if you like the person they already have your money. If you think you will get the chance to meet someone even close to what you want you are wrong. The matchmaker and coaches are EXTREMELY good at GASLIGHTING. They turn everything around and make you feel like you don't matter. Your concerns will go unanswered. They advertise tons of people sign up for this safe place for dating. What that really means is tons of people realized it is a SCAM after they paid for it. Don't worry because when you ask how many more dates the number is always wrong. They change the number and any information to fit their needs. You can't get your money back or walk away. It’s a horrible mental hell they have you in and they know it.

Fraud

I had an extremely disappointing experience with this matchmaking company and cannot recommend their services. From the start, they repeatedly got my name wrong, which was a red flag regarding their professionalism and attention to detail. Beyond that, they provided misleading information and made promises that they did not fulfill. Despite charging me the full amount, they did not require the person they set me up with to pay anything—something I only discovered later. This lack of transparency is unacceptable in a service that is supposed to be built on trust. When I raised concerns and requested explanations, my calls, texts, and emails were ignored. Their complete lack of accountability and failure to honor their commitments amount to professional negligence and non-performance of the contract. If you’re considering using this service, think twice. Do not work with this company.
