The experience was rough for a Linux user
Tried Boosteroid recently, and man, the experience was rough for a Linux user. They claim Linux support, but honestly, it’s pretty limited. No Wayland support, no rpm since Fedora 39, and they won’t even bother with flatpak or appimage. Their troubleshooting guides for Linux are almost non-existent, leaving you to make do with MacOS documentation. The browser performance on Linux is hit-or-miss, worked fine on Windows, but on Debian, Fedora, and Arch, the in-game jitters were unbearable. Their tech staff seems clueless about Linux too. Besides that, they don’t save game settings, so you’re stuck re-downloading language packs or shaders every single time you launch a game. Constantly logging into your Xbox account and resetting Steam settings is a real headache. Servers are always full, even with an ultra subscription. Without a trial, it’s hard to tell if this service will work for you. They need to make game connections seamless and save player settings to improve the experience. I appreciate having a competitor to Nvidia, which is why I gave them two stars, but they have a long way to go.
