I prepaid my Geico auto insurance
I prepaid my Geico auto insurance for a six-month period. A couple of weeks ago, I encountered a tire blowout on the freeway, resulting in a fishtail incident and a sideswipe with another vehicle. Fortunately, there were no injuries, and I received no citations from law enforcement. However, my experience took a negative turn when I received a letter yesterday, abruptly informing me of Geico's decision to cancel my policy due to the claim.
Despite Nevada's legal requirement of a 30-day notice for policy cancellation (NRS 687B.310 – NRS 687B.410 and NRS 686B), I was afforded only a two-day notice. This seems particularly unfair given the nature of the accident, which was beyond my control – a tire explosion, not an outcome of poor judgment or impairment. It's worth noting that, in my 36 years of driving, I have never been involved in an at-fault accident.
Geico's handling of this situation raises concerns about their commitment to fair and lawful customer dealings. Regrettably, I cannot rely on them to stand by their clients during unforeseen events. As a result, neither I nor my family will consider Geico for any future auto or home insurance needs.
