I bought this app a few years ago.

I bought this app a few years ago. Since then, I've used it to listen to hundreds of books and articles. Most of what I listen to isn't available as professionally narrated audio. This includes many obscure religious and medical texts — more than I can count. I'm always on the move and rarely have time to sit and read. Yet, this app lets me cover thousands of pages of material I couldn't otherwise. I listen almost every day while driving, walking, jogging, and sometimes while working. Though it's not perfect (sometimes words are said wrong), it's good enough for me. I like that the developer keeps making it better. For example, last year I found I could use it for podcasts and even offline videos. I'd be ungratefull not to give 5 stars, because it's changed my life. Now I get lots of valuable info. This info was out of my reach before — mainly because I'm so busy. It's really helped me get ready for teaching and my medical job.

This app is really great, and I’m pleased they decided to let old users keep using it. The interface is user-friendly, the font size, voices, and speed options are spot on, and I can't say enough good things about what it means to us. It was a shock to think it might disappear, as Voice Dream Reader has become so crucial in our home. Even though there are occasional glitches, they’re quickly fixed. I’m disappointed about the switch to a subscription model at such a steep cost. I hope that if the developers do go subscription-only, they’ll find a way to let legacy users export their data. It’s a shame the high price might keep young kids from benefiting, as learning assistive tech takes time and parents might not want to spend so much on something their child won’t use for a while. Still, I hope the app reaches as many users as possible and is useful for anyone who needs or wants to listen to text.

In my job, I need to do lots of reading. I've been using voiceover to read my files, but it was a bit annoying. So I'm happy to find an app that reads my files and lets me rewind, pause, and take a call easily. I can also keep my screen locked to save battery. Voice Dream can read many types of files like Word, PDFs, web pages, and normal text files.

This company is really good. I gotta read a lot for work. Voiceover's been okay, but kinda hard sometimes. This app reads stuff to me and lets me go back, pause, and answer calls easy. It seems like solving issues here means cutting out features. As someone who likes having control, I can’t organize my folders the way I want. I’d prefer to see folders like books, but now it’s just a menu list. Rearranging items is tricky since there’s a display-all option, which makes things messy when you mix different collections. The old versions had a browser, which was really useful, allowing you to see the download process. Now, you need an external app to download and import, and the new system they introduced seems lazy, requiring exact URLs and names. What if you just want to save as is? No clear instructions are provided. It feels like not only has the user experience worsened, but users are also being charged a lot. Maybe consider taking some feature suggestions into account. Thanks.

The company's behavior seems unethicl. They should've made version 2 subscription only and kept version 1 for those who paid for it - available as is, as long as it could run on future iOS.
