I strongly advise against taking
by Max

I strongly advise against taking up employment at Home Instead in the North Cork area. The office staff provides a false representation of the company, engaging in dishonest practices. Your hours are contingent on their favor, and speaking up for yourself may result in punitive rostering. Communication between health care assistants and the office is abysmal, with delays in response times. Some HCAs lack competency, leading to unsafe situations during double-up shifts. They may send a single carer for a two-carer job, expecting family members to assist, jeopardizing both the client and carer. The mileage reimbursement is inadequate, leaving you to spend a significant amount on fuel. In summary, working for Home Instead North Cork is not recommended if you seek job satisfaction.

Consistency with caregivers posed
by Roger S

Consistency with caregivers posed a recurring issue. New caregivers rotated frequently, requiring repetitive guidance. Despite being discouraged from overseeing, blame was unjustly placed on me for staff turnovers. Working from home, my presence irked some carers, creating an uncomfortable atmosphere. Some assigned caregivers lacked essential skills, with one unable to cook and another limiting meals for my mother with dementia. The decline in my mother's care amidst these challenges was disheartening. The allocated 11 hours per week for a level 4 package seemed insufficient compared to competitors offering up to 16 hours. It appears the company prioritizes profit over genuine care for elderly parents. Reconsidering their services would be prudent.

I swear, this company just cares about one thing: money.
by Anon V

I swear, this company just cares about one thing: money. I had a family member who needed care, and the local carers were great, no complaints there. But when my loved one had to go to the hospital and into care, they charged me for 14 extra days of full-rate care even though no one was coming to my house. And if you try to change the frequency to 0 hours, forget about it. They'll charge you for a whopping 44 days at full rate. I had to have a stern talk with them just to get it lowered to 30 days. And don't even get me started on the sneaky unsocial hours rate they tried to charge me for.

My mother is supported by
by James

My mother is supported by Home Instead. Although she was initially reluctant to agree that she needed care, she is now very happy and looks forward to her visits. Her carers are kind and supportive, and generally keep good notes which helps me to keep an eye on what is happening with her (she has dementia so is not able to tell me much about what is happening). The relatively new management has been excellent, and I have been listened to and concerns responded to quickly.

This company is just terrible, man
by Keith W

This company is just terrible, man. Their staff is straight-up incompetent and never even bothers to hit you back. Bruh, their training is basically all online. And get this, they advertise higher pay rates, but they don't even come through with it. Like for real, you can find way better companies on Indeed, so don't even waste your time with these fools. You've been warned.
