We visited Laurel Mountain Retreat (Brookside cabin) from July 12th - July 15th, 2024, and it was fantastic, just like always. This was our first trip since my husband had a serious stroke in January 2023, and we had a great time. We’ve been to Laurel Mountain Retreat many times, but this was our first stay at Brookside cabin, which is wheelchair friendly, and it was wonderful. The cabins are always very clean and pleasant. There’s no better place to stay around Asheville. This is our favorite spot, and we even joke that it’s our second home.

My wife and I had a nice stay for 3 nights during the 4th of July weekend at the Elk Path Cabin. It's very close to downtown Weaverville. The cabin is cozy and clean, with plenty of towels, washcloths, and kitchen stuff. Having a washer and dryer is handy too. We enjoyed the porch swing and eating breakfast on the deck. Oh, and the hot tub is big and the water was just right. Overall, it's a solid cabin stay near Asheville.

This cabin is just the cutest with loads of space. The owners, Lisa and Ben, are super kind and really accommodating. My husband and I were in town for hurricane relief, hauling a big trailer with equipment. We first booked the Red Bird cabin, but our truck and trailer didn’t fit well there. Lisa and Ben let us move to the Brookside cabin, which had more parking space, and even let us back into Red Bird when we forgot something. The cabin itself is charming and well-stocked with supplies, dishes, and utensils. They even have a special spot for pets under the stairs, complete with dog dishes and a blanket. It’s one of the cleanest rentals we’ve ever stayed in – no pet odors at all. Highly recommend staying here; it’s quiet, private, and close to stores and restaurants. We’ll definitely be back!

Stumbled upon this cozy spot, and it was exactly like the pictures—no surprises there! The host? Super communicative, always quick to respond. A real lifesaver, honestly. I ended up leaving some clothes in the washing machine, totally my fault. I thought they were gone for good, but the host went out of their way to mail them back to me. How awesome is that? The place itself had this warm vibe, like you could just kick back and relax. You know, those little touches that make you feel at home? They nailed it. Definitely a spot I’d come back to, especially with that kind of hospitality.

We planned our trip to Asheville without a clue hurricane Helena would hit so hard! No power, no internet, no water, and even fuel was scarce. Ben and Lisa were lifesavers, making sure we had everything we needed to stay comfy. They kept us updated with info from locals, which was super helpful. Despite the chaos, they made the best out of a tough situation for us. Hoping to return someday and actually enjoy the area as we intended. Ben and Lisa truly went above and beyond, and we’re so grateful for their kindness and support.

    Can’t wait to come back!

My friend and I visited the area to watch my son play college baseball. We stumbled upon Laurel Mountain Retreat while searching for a place to stay. I'm so glad we did! The cabin was just right for the two of us. We absolutely loved the porch swing – spent hours there! The kitchen had everything we needed, and the beds were so comfy. Seriously, what's your secret? The shower dispensers were a nice touch too. We truly made the most of our time there. The only downside was having to leave. Can’t wait to come back!

    Highly recommend it!

We just got back from a fantastic stay at Laurel Mountain Retreat! The cabin was cozy and spotless, which made it feel like a home away from home. What really stood out were the amenities - having a laundry was super convenient, especially since we stayed for a week. And the hot tub? Absolute bliss after a day of exploring. The cabin had everything we needed, making our stay really comfortable. It was such a pleasant experience, and we're already thinking about coming back next time we need a mountain getaway.

    My partner and I celebrated

My partner and I celebrated our first anniversary in Asheville, and we found the perfect spot! This place was incredibly cozy and clean, making us feel right at home. The amenities were great, and the surroundings were just beautiful – peaceful and quiet, exactly what we needed. We loved having our private moments in the hot tub, away from everything. It was the perfect mix of seclusion and comfort. We'll definitely be back, and I'd highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway.

    Stayed at the Red Bird

Stayed at the Red Bird Cabin last weekend and it was awesome. Tiny but super cozy, just right for a quick getaway. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud. Spent hours on the porch swing, and the hot tub was a nice touch. Honestly, can't wait to come back for a longer stay. Also, having a Walmart and some other shops nearby was really convenient. Felt like everything we needed was right there. Definitely recommending this place to friends looking for a chill spot.

    We had a really nice

We had a really nice and relaxing weekend with our little family. The cabin was just like the pictures and super clean. However, it’s a bit of a stretch to say it sleeps 4. The mattress in the loft upstairs is more like a couch mattress – fine for two little kids but not really for adults. The bed downstairs was really comfortable and we loved ending our days with a soak in the hot tub. Perfect little escape from the hustle and bustle. Thanks!

We had a wonderful stay at Brookside Cabin. The place was so clean and cozy, just what we were looking for. I can imagine us coming back with our kids and dog next time. They even had board games and stuff for pets, which was a nice surprise. The location was perfect – close to restaurants and shops, yet still felt private and peaceful. Definitely a spot we’d return to!

Stayed at this place in Asheville and wow, totally loved it. The bed? Super comfy. Views? Just stunning. It felt so cozy and relaxing, like a dream. The loft was a nice touch, adding to the whole vibe. Definitely our top spot for a chill, happy getaway. Can't imagine staying anywhere else next time we're in town.

    My partner and I drove

My partner and I drove down from PA to lend a hand with disaster relief. We arrived around 3 am Sunday, utterly exhausted, and just crashed. In our sleepy state, we didn’t notice the mini split on the lower level, leading to a pretty chilly night and restless sleep. We chose the room next to the bathroom, but it felt a bit cramped with a queen bed and wall-mounted TV. Getting out of bed at night required some acrobatics, especially if you slept against the wall. Storage was tight too, with my clothes ending up on the floor. Hanging wet towels and swimsuits was a bit of a challenge. Despite these hiccups, the owners were fantastic and very accommodating, even offering a discount for our relief work. The cabin itself was cozy, beautifully decorated, and the hot tub was pure bliss after long days.

    Evergreen Cabin looked like the

Evergreen Cabin looked like the perfect escape, nestled in a peaceful spot near Weaverville. The place was really clean and they even had supplies for our dog, which was a nice touch. But, boy, did we hit some snags. We got there on a freezing day, and the cabin was only 62°F inside. It took forever to warm up, which wasn't great after our long drive. The hot tub was cold too and didn't heat up until the next day. Kinda ruined our first night. And then, the appliances. The fridge and HVAC system were super loud, waking us up multiple times. Definitely not the quiet retreat we expected. The EV charger info was misleading too. It's not at the cabin and costs extra to use—wish we'd known that before. Evergreen Cabin's got potential, but they need to fix these issues for a better stay.
