Robert and Mike did a great job on this move. They stayed polite and worked in a proffesional way the whole time. All my stuff was packed safely and didn’t take too long. Our area has tight roads, but Robert got the truck through with no trouble. I would give them the best score and say others should use them too.

From sales to customer service to the movers - we had a superb experience. We moved from Las Vegas to NJ. No problems with quotes, timing, pickup or delivery. If I can make one suggestion, it's to ensure the info keeps flowing as much as possible, but really a solid company to deal with!

Decent customer service. Tim Tamkins and Karyanne replied quickly or someone else answered for them. My move went to a related company, Best Moving US, and they handled my stuff carefully. I had hoped for delivery in a few days, 1-3, as I needed my furniture. Thanks.

Moving is always such a hassle, right? So, when we decided to relocate from Vermont to Mississippi, we knew we needed help. We finally settled on American Van Lines. They weren't the cheapest, but they also weren't the most expensive. Everyone we dealt with was super helpful, from our Move Coordinator to the actual movers. They answered our calls, eased our worries, and kept us updated. The movers were prompt, professional, and fast. Honestly, it was a smooth experience. We'd recommend them and would use them again.

I had a move and gotta say, it went pretty smooth. Jean Marc was my first contact, and he was super helpful. Answered all my questions and even called me back quickly whenever I had more. He also made it easy to update my inventory list as the moving date got closer. Then there was Bruce, our driver. Just as awesome. He was easy to get a hold of and kept us in the loop about pickup and delivery dates. Both of them made a stressful situation a lot easier to handle. Really appreciated their help!

So, I had a mixed

So, I had a mixed experience with AVL. Toni Hastings did a great job estimating costs and helping me prep, but I was caught off guard when I found out a subcontractor, not AVL, would be handling my stuff. The other agents, Sarah and Sabrina, were pretty unhelpful and seemed too rushed to talk. Cecily, on the other hand, was responsive and helpful. The driver, Maurice, jack-knifed his truck and blocked the road. I warned him about the tricky road, but he misjudged it. My fiancé, Janet, had to rent a U-Haul to get our stuff the last mile. Despite being 12 hours late, Maurice got everything to the storage and reimbursed Janet. Overall, a bumpy ride but it worked out.

I’ve moved a few times for work, but this last one was the worst. I chose American Van Lines based on their competitive quote and virtual walkthrough, thinking it would be smooth. Boy, was I wrong. First, the moving day was a mess. Despite confirming our cul-de-sac could fit their semi, the driver freaked out over a tree branch and demanded we pay extra for a shuttle. After getting my neighbor’s permission, I cut the branch myself. Then, the driver said our move was underestimated and tried to charge us more. Only when I threatened to cancel did they back down. Packing was no better. They had another load in their truck, so they couldn’t fit our storage unit stuff, even though it was included in the quote. They wanted $15,000 more to move it separately. I ended up flying back to do it myself. They left both houses a mess, with trash everywhere. Worst part, they damaged several thousand dollars worth of our stuff. Despite paying for full insurance, my claim was denied. They only offered to refund the insurance if I promised not to post bad reviews. Total bait and switch. I’d avoid American Van Lines at all costs.

I can't believe how awful American Van Lines treated my family. We hired them to move my grandma’s things from Washington to Florida, and they messed up every step. For two months, we had no idea where her stuff was. My 99-year-old grandma had to live out of a suitcase and sleep on an air mattress. They never informed us about delays and avoided our calls. My dad called daily, but either got disconnected or told to leave a message, which they never returned. They claimed they tried calling and emailing us, but we had no missed calls or emails. It felt like they lost the shipment. After threatening to sue, they finally delivered, but demanded $3,400 in cash or money order with almost no notice. The driver wouldn’t even unlock the truck until we paid. When they finally unloaded, they had broken the leg of an antique and "fixed" it with ugly screws. We’ve tried getting compensation, but they keep dodging us. I’m making sure everyone knows how bad they are.

The staff seemed either overwhelmed or just didn’t know what they were doing. I wouldn’t recommend them at all.

Changing the moving date was no problem either, which was a relief. But then a few days before the move, they sent an inventory list that was missing items, and suddenly they wanted more money. On moving day, four guys showed up, but only one spoke English. They seemed more interested in getting the job done fast than handling our stuff carefully. No labels on boxes, fragile items crushed, and the lead guy left halfway through, leaving us with a language barrier. When our stuff finally arrived, some of it was damaged—like our handmade ornaments and business suits. Plus, they demanded payment before delivery, even though it was the weekend and hard to arrange. If you go with American Van Lines, pack your own things if you want them intact.

My recent experience with AVL was downright frustrating. We hired them for our move from Acworth, GA to Little Egg Harbor, NJ, and things went downhill fast. Warren, the sales rep, was awesome, but when the movers showed up, they didn't have any packing materials. They said we were supposed to pack everything ourselves, which was news to me. Then, halfway through loading, they claimed the garage stuff wasn't on the invoice and demanded $2700 more. Felt like a hostage situation! They threatened to stop the move if we didn't pay. After reluctantly coughing up the cash, they still left a third of our stuff behind because the truck was too small. They insisted it was my problem, not theirs. Thankfully, Payless Moving saved the day at the last minute, but it cost us another $3900. If you're considering AVL, my advice is to steer clear. They’re just out to squeeze more money out of you!

Moving from Texas to Michigan with American Van Lines was a nightmare. Despite booking a month ahead, they tried to delay pick up several times. I was starting a new job and couldn't afford the delay. The movers broke a porch light and didn't even mention it. I scheduled the delivery a month before I closed on my new home, but they showed up a month late. They didn’t scan or verify my items properly, losing several bins of personal stuff, including precious mementos from my late in-laws. The compensation they offered was a joke. They even delivered other people’s stuff to my house and didn't bother to fix it. Customer service was rude and unhelpful, and their supervisors didn’t care. They scribbled at the bottom of the contract that lost items would be compensated at $0.50 per pound. Overall, a deeply frustrating experience. I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone.
