Got the RBC British Airways VISA card mainly for the bonus AVIOS Points.

Got the RBC British Airways VISA card mainly for the bonus AVIOS Points. The card says you get 2 AVIOS points per $ spent when dining out. But they don't mention it all depends on how VISA categorizes the place. No matter how much proof you show or how many times you complain, they just won't help. In July & August, I spent $2165.26 at 4 restaurants, which should have given me close to 4330 AVIOS points. Instead, they labeled 3 restaurants as "Groceries" and 1 as "Travel." How is that even possible? They just blame VISA and say nothing can be done. If I'd known, I would NEVER have used this card for such pricey meals. My AMEX Platinum would have been so much better for rewards. Plus, this RBC BA VISA has a $165 annual fee. It's a total ripoff and RBC does NOTHING to assist. I'm furious.

Awful experience with customer service. After six tries, I finally reached a rep. Before that, I kept getting disconnected. This is not a small business; it's a large company. Your system is clunky and unhelpful. RBC needs to sort out a better system and not cause people stress. I'm on vacation in Turkey but live in Canada. I’ll wait until I'm back in Canada to hopefully get this sorted. So annoyed.
