They brought my items safely and listened They brought my items safely and listened

They brought my items safely and listened to instructions on how to move a big collection of books. Still, I won’t hire them again because of poor communication between the office and the movers. They gave a lot of promises, tried to be friendly, but hardly shared any information. This led to a constant argument with the movers for three days. I learned my lesson. Not doing it again. By the way, the first thing the movers say after “hello” – before they even move a single item – is "20 percent tip not included." The friendly vibe was gone.

The main issue with Imperial Freight The main issue with Imperial Freight

The main issue with Imperial Freight (IF) is that they are dishonest from the first time you talk to them, and I trusted them. I was moving my things from NM to FL. IF representatives assured me they were a moving company and gave me a "binding quote" after a long phone call and inventory. Later, I found out they aren’t a moving company at all, but a broker, which is a big difference. The quotes they provide aren't binding either. After offering their "binding rate", IF searches for a real moving company to handle the job. A few days before the moving date, IF contacts you with another quote, usually much higher than the first one. They never explain that this new quote (which is just an estimate) comes from a different company. In my case, both the moving and storage fees were more than twice the original quote, and I had no choice but to proceed. I reached out to IF for an explanation and a refund for the extra charges, but they ignored me. Only after reading several reviews (too late for me!) did I realize the whole issue with moving brokers. But I’m not giving up. I learned that federal trucking laws require IF to tell you they are a broker right from the start and offer you a list of movers to compare prices. I’ve filed complaints with the attorney general’s offices in NM and FL and will keep fighting. At least one of those AG offices said they would look into it. I’ve also sent copies of all the bad reviews I found to the AGs. The complaints are the same as mine...no mention of being a broker, wrong quotes, and more. I encourage anyone with similar problems to reach out to me so we can get more attention from the AG. I hope my email is available for other users of this site.
