The customer support team has been very helpful in assisting me with an issue regarding a failed transfer between NBKC and another bank. Even though NBKC wasn't at fault, the team worked hard to identify the problem with the other bank and gave me the necessary paperwork to help sort things out.

I had the opportunity to work with Jeff McDaniel

I had the opportunity to work with Jeff McDaniel, and my overall experience was positive, although there were a few bumps along the way that seemed somewhat unnecessary. Two weeks before closing, there was a question regarding their ability to cover my loan because they discovered I was employed part-time, despite my annual earnings being more than sufficient to cover the loan. This situation created unnecessary stress, and I was concerned we might need to switch lenders at the last minute. Fortunately, they managed to resolve the issue, but it did introduce some unwelcome uncertainty into the process. Despite these hiccups, Jeff's assistance was appreciated, and we successfully closed the deal.

My take on NBKC is pretty middle-of-the-road

My take on NBKC is pretty middle-of-the-road. Brad Kanady did a decent job initially in securing a good rate for me. However, the closing process dragged on longer than I expected. I had to submit my documents multiple times, and I had to keep reaching out to check on the progress. Whenever I called for an update, it seemed like they always needed more documents from me. It felt like there was some sort of issue with organization or communication. Brad did step up towards the end to assist in getting an earlier closing date, which was appreciated.

Be sure to avoid any surprises right before the official close

Be sure to avoid any surprises right before the official close, like waiting 12 days because of a Texas HELOC. Double-check that the Title company name is accurate on the closing statement to prevent the cashiers check from being rejected, as mine was when it was made out to the wrong title company.
