    it was pretty decent

I rented a car recently, and overall, it was pretty decent. The service was okay, and the car itself ran smoothly without any issues. However, one thing that really bugged me was the extra charge for winter tires. We're talking about Edmonton in the middle of winter, where winter tires aren't a luxury but a necessity. Charging an additional $20 per day for something that should be standard in such harsh weather seems a bit ridiculous to me. It felt like they were just trying to squeeze more money out of customers. Other than that, no complaints, but the winter tire fee left a sour taste.

    I've rented from Fox Rental

I've rented from Fox Rental in Denver a bunch of times and it's always been a breeze. The counter staff, especially CJ, are super friendly and helpful. And the prices are usually pretty good too. But this time around, things went south. I got double charged over $100 and dealing with their phone customer service was a nightmare. They charged me for 4 days when I only rented the car for 3, plus a bunch of extra fees that made it three times more expensive than my original reservation. It's a shame because the counter folks do such a great job, but the lousy phone support really messed things up.

    I had a rental car

I had a rental car recently and it was kind of a mixed bag. First off, I showed up to pick up the car at the scheduled time, and it actually was ready, which was great. But then I checked the gas tank and it wasn’t full. They charged me for a full tank, though, which was pretty frustrating. I mean, if you’re gonna charge for a full tank, at least give me a full tank, right? Other than that, the car itself was in decent shape and got me where I needed to go. But seriously, they need to fix the whole gas tank situation. It’s just not cool.

    I had a terrible experience

I recently had a terrible experience with Cartrawler, and I'm still in shock. I booked a transfer through Emirates Transfers, which uses Cartrawler, expecting a smooth ride in Dubai. Instead, it was a nightmare. Our driver from SIXT Taxi never showed up, and it was past midnight with my family, including a toddler, stranded. Calling the SIXT hotline didn't help much either—they said the booking was "wrong" in their system. After a lot of pressure from us, they finally sent a driver, but the stress was overwhelming. I tried getting support from SIXT, and they promised a refund. But the process has been a mess, with delays and no clear answers. Eventually, SIXT passed the buck to Cartrawler, who then just stopped responding. Still waiting for my refund, and it’s been ages. The lack of responsibility from both companies is shocking. I booked through Emirates Transfers, thinking they'd be reliable, but they clearly work with untrustworthy partners. I can't recommend Cartrawler, SIXT, or Emirates Transfers to anyone. If you care about your safety and peace of mind, stay far away from these companies.

    I had a frustrating experience

I had a frustrating experience with Cartrawler when I booked a car for my family vacation in Phuket. I paid 760 euros for a 3-week rental in advance. Upon arriving at the rental desk after a long flight from Germany, the manager informed me they couldn’t accept my credit card for the deposit because it was originally issued as a debit card. They refused any other form of deposit, and only gave me 24 hours to sort it out. Desperate, I found another rental company that accepted cash deposits, and signed a contract with them. Just after, I got a call from the original rental manager saying they could now accept cash - too little, too late. Despite asking for a refund, Cartrawler refused, citing their strict terms. This left me feeling scammed and robbed, as they kept the entire amount for a car I never used. Very disappointing and frustrating experience.

    I had a terrible experience

I had a terrible experience with my car rental. Our flight got delayed and we were rebooked on another one, but there was no way to update this info through the 'manage booking' feature. It just kept resetting to the original flight. No contact number available either, which made it impossible to inform anyone. When we finally got the number from the rental agency, we were already considered a no-show because we were late. The car was gone, and even though we could have picked up a car two days later, our contract was locked. This meant the rental agency couldn't help us at all. And guess what? Cartrawler kept all the money! Usually, you'd just lose a deposit, but not the whole amount. Their customer service was awful, just a rude reply on the phone and email, suggesting we make a new booking. Seriously? Save yourself the trouble and avoid them.

I had a car rental experience

I had a car rental experience with Car Trawler through Wizz Air on December 26, 2024, and it was a total disaster. I booked a Volkswagen Jetta, but when I arrived, they handed me a lower-quality Chinese car instead. The staff later told me they always do this, which felt really shady. Then, they wouldn't accept my UAE driving license. Even after showing my Australian license and passport, they still refused my rental. None of this was mentioned before, leading to a lot of confusion and delays. To top it off, they rejected my bank card and demanded a 3000 AED deposit instead of 1500 AED. Plus, I had to pay an extra 779 AED for insurance. None of these hidden costs were clear upfront, which left me financially strained. Overall, this messed up the start of my holiday, causing major stress and ruining my trip with my daughter.

    They are absolute fraudsters

I recently had the worst experience with this rental company during our family trip to Dubai. We booked a car through Emirates and CarTrawler, but when we got to the rental office, they refused to accept our Spanish bank cards, both credit and debit! The staff there said we had to pay an extra $200 to use our cards, which felt like a total scam. We immediately contacted CarTrawler, and they said they'd open a case and review it within 20 working days. It's been almost a month, and still no refund! Luckily, my bank helped me with a chargeback. Only after that did someone from the company reach out to ask what happened. Their customer service was terrible and left us feeling cheated. I’ll be filing a claim with the European trade department and warning everyone on social media to avoid this company. They are absolute fraudsters!

I booked a service with this company, and it felt like stepping into a maze. The booking process wasn't clear at all, and the fine print? It's like it's written to trip you up. They partnered with a supplier who was less than reliable, and things went downhill from there. When I reached out to customer service, it was like talking to a wall. Every time, they promised a callback in 48 hours and said any issue would take up to 20 days to fix, but nothing moved forward. Despite jumping through hoops and sending all the documents they wanted, they still wouldn’t give me a refund. Navigating their website was another headache—uploading docs or asking for a refund was nearly impossible. It felt like they just wanted to drag things out and dodge responsibility. Not planning to go through this again.

    Frustraing experience

I recently had an experience with CarTrawler that left me quite frustrated. I usually rent cars without a hitch, but this time, my address was missing in one of their partner's systems. In the UK, our driving licenses usually do the trick for ID, so this was unexpected. While tech glitches happen, the real letdown was their customer service. I felt ignored and received no apology or genuine support. They even asked me to prove I was at the rental location, which seemed unreasonable. What's worse, they didn't bother reaching out to the third-party provider to sort things out. It's surprising given their reputation and that my fiancée recommended them. I hope they learn to handle such situations better and make things right for their customers.

Last May, I booked a car for my Scotland trip through Cartrawler. Everything seemed smooth until I got to the car rental place, Greenmotion. They asked for a deposit, something I hadn’t been informed about when I paid upfront. No problem, I thought, until I realized I needed to enter a pin code, which I hadn’t used in ages since switching to contactless payments. After a couple of wrong tries, Greenmotion refused the car and my money was stuck with Cartrawler. Back home, I tried reaching out to Cartrawler for a refund. Their website was a maze, and even after finding an email, they refused to refund me. The experience taught me to book directly with rental companies in the future. Middlemen like Cartrawler? They just don’t care.

Booked an airport transfer through TAP Portugal for my arrival in Porto, and it turned into a mess. The service, handled by CarTrawler, involved too many layers—CarTrawler, Mozio, and Elife, the actual van provider. My flight got canceled by TAP just 12 hours before departure, and everything went downhill from there. Tried calling everyone involved, but nobody budged without CarTrawler's direction. They stuck to their policy of needing 24 hours’ notice for any changes, which was frustrating. Honestly, it's better to book directly with the service provider to avoid this hassle. TAP, you need to step up—if you're canceling flights, your associated services should accommodate the changes. Otherwise, what's the point?

    I definitely won't us it

I had a terrible experience with CarTrawler and Europcar that left me frustrated and out of pocket. I booked a Volkswagen Golf and insurance in advance, thinking everything was sorted for my trip back home. But when I arrived, they said there was no Golf available and my pre-paid insurance was useless. Even though I'd already paid, they refused to accept it and I ended up having to shell out an extra 600 euros for new insurance. With two kids in tow and no other options, I felt cornered. The whole thing felt like a scam. After multiple emails, customer service was no help and I never got my refund. I definitely won't use CarTrawler or Europcar again, and I'd advise others to avoid them too.

    Booking a car through EasyJet

Booking a car through EasyJet seemed smooth until we hit a bump at the rental desk in Spain. DELPASO, the company handling our car, demanded an extra £1500, claiming the insurance we got through EasyJet wasn’t good enough. We stood our ground, and suddenly, there was a "solution"—a £160 charge for additional insurance. They assured us we could claim it back, but it felt more like a squeeze than a service. Even though we had already paid for insurance, the agent wouldn’t hand over the keys without this extra payment. Complaints to EasyJet and CarTrawler just got us the cold shoulder. If you're considering DELPASO, think again. This experience was a headache we didn’t need.

    No ethics

Booked a car through this company from Sharjah to Dubai Airport for 6:00 p.m. Got a message at 5:50 p.m. saying the driver was there. Went to the reception and no car. Called the driver and he was still 20 minutes away. Waited, then called again, and he said it'd be another 28 minutes. I had a flight to catch, so canceled and grabbed a taxi. Got an email saying no refund because I canceled less than 24 hours before. Tried explaining to customer service, even spoke to the manager, but they wouldn't budge. They didn’t get that it was their fault for not showing up on time. It’s only £17.00 but wanted to warn fellow travelers. This company has no ethics.

    Trip to Dubai was supposed

Trip to Dubai was supposed to be exciting, but booking through Cartrawler via the Emirates Skywards App turned it sour. Arriving in Dubai, no driver was there to pick us up. We had to call customer service and waited for 13 minutes at 2.49€/min, only to hear that even they couldn’t reach the driver. Frustrated, we took another taxi and paid double. Filed a complaint with Cartrawler but after nearly 30 days, no feedback or refund. On our return trip, the driver was 15 minutes late. Cartrawler seems clueless about their drivers and doesn't provide updates via email or SMS. It's like a game of roulette with their service. For us, never again Cartrawler.

I’ve had a pretty frustrating time with this booking service. I needed to cancel my reservation and it turned into quite the hassle. First, I thought I'd shoot them an email, but guess what? Their mailbox is full! Seriously, who doesn't keep track of their emails? Then I tried calling them—total dead end. It's like their phone number is just for show. I feel stuck because there's no support at all, and I’m worried about my credit card info, considering how shady they’ve been with communication. It's like they’ve set up this sneaky trap and now I can’t figure out how to get out. This experience makes me think twice about using their service again.

    Lesson learned!

You know, I had this whole plan set up for my trip. Car reserved, everything good to go. But then my flight got delayed. Not just a little, like five whole hours. And when I finally touched down, it was 18:05, just five minutes past my car reservation. Thought it wouldn’t be a big deal, but turns out, those five minutes were everything. The rental company was like, “Nope, can’t help you.” Seriously? Five minutes late and that’s it? They couldn’t do anything for me, not even a little. Felt kind of stuck, honestly. It was frustrating and really threw off my plans. Maybe next time, I'll book a car with more flexible timing. Lesson learned!

So, booking a room was a bit of a rollercoaster, you know? I reserved a spot and was supposed to pay in Norwegian NOK, but somehow it went through in Swedish SEK instead. The thing is, they didn’t even convert it; they just charged the Norwegian amount but in SEK, which ended up costing me more. Frustrating, right? I had to cancel the booking and tried again using PayPal. Thankfully, that worked, and it charged in NOK like it was meant to. But, still, I ended up losing around 500 NOK due to cancellation fees on my card. It's kind of ridiculous that such a tech issue happened. Definitely not what you expect when booking a room!

We booked and paid for our rental car in full, expecting a smooth experience upon landing in Athens. But when we arrived, the shuttle bus driver told us our booking was canceled because we were a no-show. We were right there! We booked everything through Opodo and I can't believe how bad the service was. They had the nerve to say no refund because we didn’t show up on time, even though our flight landed at 19:45 and the car pick-up was from 10am. Nowhere did it mention a 2-hour window. We even had to chase them for a confirmation email. This is just taking people's money without providing the service. Never using them again.

It was unsafe, and we were lucky not to get into a serious accident. After their agent promised a refund, they just ghosted me. Booked a Schiller car through CarTrawler at Budapest Airport, flight got delayed on 19th November. Told CarTrawler via chat I'd be a couple hours late. Ahmed from customer service said I'd have to pay €65 to change the booking. I argued, he said he'd do it for free but then I didn't want to change it, just wanted Schiller to know I’d be late. Ahmed told me to call them myself, but I was on the plane and couldn't. He said they'd cancel my booking and offered an alternative with Klass Wagen, which I declined. Luckily, Schiller kept the car for me. Definitely booking straight with Schiller next time, no more CarTrawler.

I booked a car rental from Dublin airport for a couple of days. Swissair directed me to this site, seemed straightforward. I went through the usual stuff, even opted for the premium insurance. Double-checked everything and hit send. Then, bam! An email saying I needed a credit card, which I didn't have – I paid with a debit card. Tried their online chat for help, but they said canceling would cost me twice the car's actual cost! I asked to speak to a manager, but they just pointed to the terms and conditions. Feels like a total scam. Can’t believe companies get away with this kind of robbery. Unbelievable.

Never thought I'd need to read all the terms and conditions, but it turns out you probably should.
