In Brazil, for safety, there are two ways to register visitors in apartments. One takes longer, since you need to collect visitors’ details, send them to the host through Airbnb, and then they pass it to the front desk. The other is faster; the visitor just shows their ID at the front desk and gets access. I always pick the second way, so I have a message I’ve used for years to ask in advance. Since I live in another country, I can’t visit everyone, so I want things to be simple. It always worked fine until one host just replied to my message with: "yes, you can have visitors." Since I was clear in my request, I booked. When I got there, they said I had to follow the longer process. I tried talking to the owner, but she said it wasn’t her rule, it was the building’s, and then even accused me of using the place for work, like I was a prostitude. In short, I left right away and found another place fast, but Airbnb did nothing to help and even punished me. Airbnb lets hosts trick guests and take advantage of them.
