In Brazil, for safety, there are two ways to register

In Brazil, for safety, there are two ways to register visitors in apartments. One takes longer, since you need to collect visitors’ details, send them to the host through Airbnb, and then they pass it to the front desk. The other is faster; the visitor just shows their ID at the front desk and gets access. I always pick the second way, so I have a message I’ve used for years to ask in advance. Since I live in another country, I can’t visit everyone, so I want things to be simple. It always worked fine until one host just replied to my message with: "yes, you can have visitors." Since I was clear in my request, I booked. When I got there, they said I had to follow the longer process. I tried talking to the owner, but she said it wasn’t her rule, it was the building’s, and then even accused me of using the place for work, like I was a prostitude. In short, I left right away and found another place fast, but Airbnb did nothing to help and even punished me. Airbnb lets hosts trick guests and take advantage of them.

Hosts should be aware that there is a new

Hosts should be aware that there is a new policy in Airbnb Support. They now allow and even support guests who lie in their references. One of my guests provided false information in his review, even though I had everything in the chat. He made up a completely different story. I called him out for lying and asked him to be honest next time. However, the support team told me that, since he was American and he called first to complain about me calling him a liar, they added a note about harassment to my profile for internal use. So, calling a guest a liar after they try to damage the host’s reputation is considered harassment? If that’s the case, why doesn’t Airbnb block messages once the guest has left a reference?

A company that has simply forgotten it's roots...

A company that has simply forgotten it's roots... and the ideas of home sharing and friendly stays. I used them for 10 years as a guest, and now all I see are fancy island villas for €500 a night or offers to bid for a night with a Bollywood celeb?? When I started hosting in 2019, I only used Airbnb, and it was okay for a beginner. Things got better for 2 years. Then in 2022, bookings dropped hard, even with my strong 4.95 rating. Last two years, nothing. Other sites, luckily, have covered what Airbnb is missing. Feels like they lost their way. Other hosts say the same.

Logging into my Irish Airbnb account from

Logging into my Irish Airbnb account from Argentina with my Argentinian phone number turned out to be a very annoying experience. The confirmation codes arrive so slowly that they expire before I can use them. And, as expected, there’s no one available to help.

I had an unpleasant and chaotic experience

I had an unpleasant and chaotic experience, but in the end, I received a full refund. Still, the host, who lied and tried to accuse me of harassing her staff and refusing to leave after I had already departed (I had evidence showing I never spoke to staff), still got paid. I mentioned I should’ve been compensated for that, especially if she was. The manager I spoke with wasn't helpful. He had all the proof showing she was lying, including message timestamps, but he only said, “She asked you to stop bothering her staff.” (There’s proof I wasn’t even there). They also had full screenshots of the conversation. My honest review was deleted. This woman, Elly / Elena Canggu Bali, is a problem. Her rooms were bug-free, but she removes listings with bad reviews. All her listings are either new or only have 2 reviews, even after 11 years. Despite the evidence of her trying to frame me, they still kept her review online.

    Poor and unhelpful.

Poor and unhelpful. The complete opposite of problem-solving and will just waste your time. Airbnb wants their hosts reviewed, but there's no way to rate their customer support anywhere on the site.
