    I have more than 20 years of experience owning several restaurants and have been using Toast for 3 years now. Before Toast, I worked with Micros, Aloha, Future, Shift 4, and Dinerware (AVOID Dinerware AT ALL COSTS). Toast is by far the best system I’ve found. We run casual dining with several KDS in the back, terminals, handheld devices, online ordering, hostess seating, and gift cards. This is the first cloud system I’ve tried, and I really like it. Toast Payroll works well! Switching to Toast was planned carefully and went very smooth. I do wish Toast would include free replacement equipment after warranty as part of the monthly fees. Competitors are getting tough with offers, mostly about credit card fees. From an independent owner’s view, Toast is a solid partner and makes running the business easier.

    Toast's customer service is terrible.

    Toast's customer service is terrible. You'll spend hours on the phone, passed around without getting your issue resolved. They open and close cases quickly, even if your problem isn't fixed. Agents said I couldn't talk to those handling my case because they lack phones—ridiculous! They're helpful until you're a customer, then seem uninterested. Despite liking the platform, bad service and no help make it not worthwhile. If I could redo it, I might not choose Toast again.

    I shared thoughts as a business owner, and they were noticed and used. It’s really helped us improve cashflow by dealing with costly loans we carried. Now, I feel more positive about growing our locations with toast and this helpful lending option. Keep it up and stay tuned to what people on the ground are doing each day.

    Had Clover before and their system kept having problems

    Had Clover before and their system kept having problems, plus all they cared about was selling that super pricey setup. Since moving to Toast, I feel better cause their POS came for way less than Clover’s and the team at Toast seems really realiable.

    We are really happy we switched to Toast.

    We are really happy we switched to Toast. Our old POS system worked fine at first but then kept breaking down. Toast helped us a lot with an easy changeover, and since then everything has run much better. Thanks to everyone!

    My sale rep Matt is the best. He still checks on me every now and then. He doesn't have to. That's customer service at it's finest. I tell all my business buddy about toast. I tell any bar or restaurant I go visit.

    I had to contact Toast for help today

    I had to contact Toast for help today and Kris picked up the phone and was great. He helped me solve one problem and even spotted another one. VERY HELPFUL!! I really like our toast product. Thanks a lot

    Toast is really good.

    Toast is really good. I can't see how anyone uses a diffrent Pos system for a restaurant. It's easy to lern and makes daily work smoother. The tools help a lot with orders and keeping things on track.

    The company is great overall

    The company is great overall, offering many features for restaurants. However, there are problems with frequent updates and settings changes, causing frustration for employees. Tech support quality has declined in the 8 years I've been with them, making it hard to get help over the phone. Online chat is often the better option.

    Your backend and integrations

    Your backend and integrations are excellent, but your user interface needs improvement. It should be more user-friendly and flow seamlessly. Consider looking at Hungerrush POS interface as an example. I can teach an entire staff (front and back office) how to master it in just one hour.

    This company isn't like Aloha.

    This company isn't like Aloha. It takes some getting used to if you're switching. But, Toast is kinda more logically set up. It's also super easy to access and edit menus/POS. I like the online ordering for guests too, no need to call in.

    I liked that I could follow my order on the app and that

    I liked that I could follow my order on the app and that I could get delivery from a restaurant not on DoorDash or Uber. Delivery fee was $7.50. I tipped $10, which seemed fair for a 15min drive, and got a notification that it was delivered but didn’t see my food. There was a place to add extra driver instructions. Even though I wrote my apartment number there, they thought the street number was the apartment number. For example, if my address was 301 pretend ave, apt 303, they dropped it off at apt 301 instead of 303. It showed 303 both in the main address and in the extra instructions. When I called customer service to find my order, they said I had put 301 as my apartment, but I didn’t. I found my order on the ground outside apt 301. I told them if the driver and support don’t get the apartment right, this will happen again. I sent screenshots to the agent but never got a reply after that.

    Support from Toast has been sluggish.

    Support from Toast has been sluggish. We've been with them for 4+ years, running 4 restaurants. Support has been tardy before, but this time, it's affecting our business. When they tried a recent integration, they disconnected one of our suppliers. It took 3 weeks, numerous calls, chats, and tickets to fix. We lost thousands in sales. The same happened with another integration. They tried to connect DoorDash and somehow disconnected GrubHub. Now, neither DoorDash nor GrubHub works properly. We've reached out multiple times, even to supervisors, but no solution yet. We've lost GrubHub sales for 6 days and counting. We've used cheaper POS systems with better support. Despite paying for integration for 3 months, it's cost us in lost sales.

    Products are good, always changing which is nice.

    Products are good, always changing which is nice. Much more user friendly than before and other options out there. There are still some gaps, but you can mostly find what you want and export to excel for checking. Customer support is really bad, like the worst I’ve seen. The reps don’t know much about their own stuff and have caused problems for my company many times. When there’s an issue I can’t solve, we are stuck. I even told my team not to call Toast because they simply do NOT assist.

    Customer service is great.

    Customer service is great. They always work hard to solve problems. Sadly, starting up was a real challenge for us. We reviewed the menu and gave suggestions for two stores, but they lost those changes when we opened one of the stores. As a result, the menus looked different in each location. We've been dealing with these problems ever since because the start-up was so poorly managed.

    The credit card preauthorization ain't helpful at all.

    The credit card preauthorization ain't helpful at all. You set it for $20, but the customer can still spend $20 and when you close it, it might only charge $9.86. We lost money cuz of this. To use gift cards, you gotta buy the min amount and also pay $50 a month fee to Toast to actually use them.

    Reviews can be tricky.

    Reviews can be tricky. There’s usually another perspective; often, good people trying their best. Our run-in with Toast seems tangled up in many layers, including different departments and maybe some missed communications. As a result, Toast hasn’t put our sales money into our bank account for several days, and we’ve heard nothing back. They can’t deposit the funds because we switched accounts, and we haven’t gotten any notice, response to our calls, or updates about the funds. Payroll is coming up, and we're stuck waiting on this big company.
