I booked a cruise with Disney Cruise Line (DCL)
I booked a cruise with Disney Cruise Line (DCL) for the Wonder cruise from Sydney to Noumea, scheduled for 28.12.24 - 3.01.25. However, DCL recently announced that the destination was changed from Noumea to Eden and Hobart in Australia due to unrest in Noumea, even though other ships are still allowed there. No compensation has been offered for this change, which is disappointing. Despite the change, they expect us to pay the same price for a cruise now based entirely in Australia. They informed us of this only when it was too late to cancel without losing half of our fare. The communication I received from DCL has been poor and unprofessional. A supervisor even hung up on me when I questioned why other customers are getting better offers, like a 30 percent discount for cruises around Australia, while we get nothing. I’ve been forced to seek legal advice and involve Consumer Affairs since this seems like a major change. If I wanted a domestic trip, I would have booked a tour to Australia myself, but I paid a lot of money for an overseas experience with my daughter. I’ve since warned others about my experience with DCL. A friend told me that their family received a 50 percent discount and on-board credits when their cruise destination changed to Australia, which shows that other companies value their customers. How can DCL claim to offer a first-class experience when they can't even provide decent customer service? It makes me question how many others have been affected by DCL. My advice is to avoid booking with them if you don’t want to be disappointed.
