    Man, their record keeping, phone convos

    Man, their record keeping, phone convos, forms, and online stuff? Terrible! Apply online for anything - IRA, banking, whatever - but no guarantee they'll process or take it! Messed me up bad! Then they email the app, takes 10 days! Upload? Might not fly! Wait ages for customer response! By then, too late! Service won't own up to issues or calls! Document everything! I'm out, closing accounts! Go Ally bank, quick and great!

    I had a Discover secured card for 2 years.

    I had a Discover secured card for 2 years. Used it, paid it on time, carried 0 balance when I closed it. Lost job, had to bank on other debts but since my balance was always paid with Discover. I was in good standing. Apparently I recently decided to see about getting a Discover card again. They declined me and don’t offer a reason other than I had an account prior with satisfactory payments. I will be taking my business elsewhere. Definitely not a company to patronize.

    We've been Discover customers for 40 years

    We've been Discover customers for 40 years, but today was a terrible experience. Ticketmaster alerted us about a data breach and our card info being on the dark web. I called Discover's fraud department to change our card number. The first person said no fraud happened, just call credit bureaus. That's crazy advice! Finally, another person shut down our old number and issued a new one. It was a relief, but we're seriously reconsidering staying with Discover.

    Yet another credit card company with shady practices.

    Yet another credit card company with shady practices. I had an account for a year, never missed a payment. Then IRS sent a letter asking to verify my identity. I filled the form with current info, but they closed my account and reported to bureaus. They said it was due to wrong address. No chance to reopen, still owe the balance. Avoid big companies like this, go local. It's your duty as a moral human.

    They've been decent for 20 years until Capital One bought them. Now, they won't add my wife to my account, basic functions don't work, and there are many other issues. The customer reps used to be helpful, now they're useless. I'm out of here.

    One Star If you find yourself in a disagreement about a product bought with your Discover card, watch out. You can file a dispute, but they won’t inform you that you can only succeed if the merchant doesn’t reply. Discover appears more focused on protecting the merchant rather than the buyer. We had a problem with a seller that gave us a faulty product. Even with proof that the seller promised to refund us— including a signed paper from the owner—Discover denied it, saying they couldn’t look at it because it was a legal paper, and “they're not lawyers.” This was silly since the paper was meant as proof, not for legal advice. It didn’t matter to Discover that the product was broken or that the refund was agreed on; they just sided with the seller. Their dispute system is there, but it seems made to protect companies, not customers. Discover is a harmful company, and with plenty of credit cards available, take this as a warning. Stay clear.

    I had a disappointing experience with Discover card

    I had a disappointing experience with Discover card. Despite vendors mishandling my funds, Discover wasn't helpful. They insisted it was my responsibility to reclaim the money. It's frustrating to feel helpless with hard-earned cash on the line. If vendors don't refund, why should I pay for nothing?

    Not a good experience.

    Not a good experience. I got loans approved 6 months back and paid them off. I'm marked as married. 3 weeks ago, I applied for money again. They took 2-3 weeks to decide. By the time they said it expired, it was too late for me. Now, my money problem is fixed.
