You wouldn't believe how good

You wouldn't believe how good this mic is! I've tried a ton of different mics over the years, even some super pricey ones, but this one is on another level. The warmth and detail it captures are just out of this world, and the tone? It's absolutely stunning. It's built like a tank too, really solid craftsmanship. I got the DA87 from Dachman Audio and gotta say, it’s pretty awesome. The build quality is solid and the sound is impressive. I’m using it alongside a U87 in a M/S setup, and while they do sound a bit different, the DA87 really shines. In fact, I think for some singers, the DA87 might actually be a better fit. One thing though, the shock mount joint isn’t strong enough for the mic’s weight – had to tighten it a lot to stop it from drooping. Other than that, I’m super happy with it. It’s a fantastic mic for the price.

I’ve got a U87ai, and I’m pretty aware of the differences between an 87ai and 87i. But, honestly, when I ran an FFT analysis with white noise, I was blown away by how similar they sounded. Seriously, it’s almost identical. I went ahead and did a sum of the differences using a match EQ, and now I’ve got this quasi-matched mic that’s either an 87ai or an 87i. It’s crazy how close they are now. The whole process was a bit nerdy but totally worth it for the result. If you’re into this kind of stuff, give it a shot.
