I got my truck used back in 2007, and there's
I got my truck used back in 2007, and there's always been an annoying issue with the door seal that I couldn't fix. After messing around with the door for years, adding bits of rubber from places like Walmart and AutoZone, I just gave up and learned to live with the windnoise. Recently, I decided to tackle some of the problems I thought I could never fix to save money, and the door seal problem came back up. But now, getting new parts was nearly impossible. I ordered these inner and outer door seals through another OEM parts site. Rubbertherightway was the company that shipped the seals to me. When they arrived, I was surprised by how well they fit. I installed both the inner and outer door seals on the driver's side, and for the first time, I saw how much of a gap the old seals had. The new seals fit perfectly and closed the gap when the door shut. The passenger side only needed the outer door seal because there wasn’t a huge gap there, but it made the door hard to close, so I returned the inner seal. After taking a test drive, I noticed an immediate difference. The wind noise was almost completely gone from the doors. I also found another issue causing wind noise and fixed it by lowering the hood bump stop—an easy and often overlooked fix for wind noise coming from the front of the truck. After that, my truck went from about 74db to 65db in sound. It’s quieter than it’s ever been, and now I don’t have to crank up the radio to drown out the noise. One thing I’d suggest when installing the seals is to have some extra adhesive to make sure the new seals stick properly and prevent any water leaks. The thin adhesive stickers that come with them aren’t strong enough for these heavy seals. Thanks to the seals from Rubbertherightway and some simple fixes, I’m really happy with my purchase. My truck looks and sounds much better!
