Simpl communication and clear fees!

While you might spot a good boat with an okay hourly rate, often there's 3/4 more fees after you book. I booked with Andy from Sea Smoke Miami Charters. There was a basic trip & captain fee (which is state mandatory) + taxes. No other hidden fees for our two-hour reservation compared to most others online. My experience with Andy & Captain Genry was simple, fast, clear, and gave my wife & I a great sense of security. The two-hour experience we booked was great! Nice boat, relaxing service & no judgment with beverages or music choice. I'll definitely recommend Sea Smoke Miami Charters & will be back on my next visit!

Boatsetter was a great option for a birthday

Boatsetter was a great option for a birthday harbor cruise with a captained boat. (None of us wanted to operate the boat). We simply scrolled through available vessels and found one that we liked that fit our budget, and requested a booking. We were confirmed within an hour and then were given options for catering. It could not have been easier and it was a great experience.

It was really simple and trouble-free renting Todd’s spotless and enjoyable boat on the Intracoastal. The whole process from picking the right boat to picking it up to paying was without stress. Plus, we truly enjoyed meeting Todd and his wife. They were friendly and very hospitable. I’m looking forward to renting their boat again.

I rented this yacht for my wife's surprise 40th birthday. Yenisley assisted me with the decorations and other arrangements. My wife and her friends were very happy with both the yacht and the setup. They had a great time on the boat. Lazaro was the captain, and he was really good too.

Easy to talk to and could handle last minute changes to the booking. Boat matched the description. It seemed to work well and had the right gear for keeping it in place while at the beach. Boat owner suggested a spot that was good for a six and ten year old.

I had a good time at the lake. The pontoon we rented was just right for our outing. Austin (the boat owner) was quick to respond to any questions we had. He was nice and did his job well. We'll definitely rent from him again next time.

Reserved for my birthday and really liked the boat overal. It looked clean and was looked after nicly. Talking with them was simple and the boat was easy to locate. Captain and crew were nice and took us to a fun place to swim. I’d book with them agian!

The boat options were fine,

The boat options were fine, but booking and planning the day turned out trickier than I thought. I had to make many calls and send emails to sort out the food. Getting clear directions to the boat and finding out where it was docked wasn't easy either. The day on the boat itself was fantastic, but the stuff before that was just alright.

Boatsetters insurance policy is inadequate. Arbitration was biased. We went for a half day cruise around a local lake. We struck an underwater tree stump. After dislodging ourselves from the stump we returned to the marina, went for a run around the lake with the owner who said "everything was OK". Upon removal the boat had minor marks on hull and the prop was bent. Later we received a bill for $28k. Insurance covered most of it, but left us with a $7500 bill. This is insanely high! How did we go from a bent prop to a "totaled boat"?? Arbitration didn't want to hear facts and was biased towards owner. Renter, us, got screwed.

Terrible Customer Service

Boat was ok bc only one engine worked. I tried to come to an agreement w the captain, who worked through someone listing himself as the owner (who is not the owner). When I didn't get anywhere with that I contacted Boatsetter directly and they basically said "meh not my problem." To the best of my knowledge they did not even address that individuals are holding themselves out as owners when they are just middlemen. There is a huge lack of transparency here and the quality of the boats and professionalism is questionable.

Beware of Boatsetter's insurance policy

Beware of Boatsetter's insurance policy, as it comes with a $7,500 deductible that renters are responsible for. Unfortunately, we had an incident where we rented a wake boat and incurred significant damage due to an underwater object, costing us over $8,000. Boatsetter's response did not show much interest in addressing the issue, leaving us to cover the expenses. So, consider if you're willing to take on this risk for a few hours of enjoyment.

Scammed by Captain Nicholas - Lake Tahoe

Was bait and switched by Captain Nicholas (21' Bowrider w/Wake Tower Up To 6 Lake Tahoe!). We agreed to a price but was called two days later and notified the price was doubled due to it being a holiday and there would be traffic on the docks). He then lied to say it was in the fine print (which confirmed - it wasn't). Was a very shady experience and there are much better, more ethical options out there.
