For a company that claims to make managing your account simple

For a company that claims to make managing your account simple, it’s surprisingly hard to move your money around, even within Betterment. Their savings account is the best feature, offering a high APY. Once you get past the setup to transfer money to/from your main checking account, it’s fairly smooth. But if you’re hoping to use Betterment as your primary checking and bank account, it’s not ideal. They have some strange access rules and a lot of random limits when it comes to transferring funds. We couldn’t move money between two Betterment accounts because the initial transfer was from outside, and they required my husband to verify it again. My confirmation wasn’t enough, even though both accounts were joint and my name was on both. On top of that, they don’t accept wire transfers (which is an issue for us since we’re selling our first home), and they can’t process deposits over $50k a day. I was drawn to Betterment because of their focus on investing in companies with a positive impact on the world. Maybe they’re better at investing, but based on my experience, it’s been less than ideal. Over the last few years, it’s been hard to gauge their performance, but I did have a few thousand in a low-risk investment account to help save for our move. We lost a decent chunk of it, and the only reason I’m still keeping it open is to hopefully get it back to where it was before we buy our next home.

    Really simple to use.

Really simple to use. I’ve been with Betterment for almost ten years now, and I have several retirement accounts, investment accounts, checking, and savings. Everything works well. I wouldn’t rely on them as my *only* bank though because they don’t have physical branches, so if you need something like a cashier’s check for a car or house downpayment, you may be in trouble.

I’ve been using Betterment for a while now and it’s great! Super simple to manage money and good APY rates on cash savings. Investing is easy and the checking account works fine. Awesome!

Signed up for a plan and paid via Apple Pay

Signed up for a plan and paid via Apple Pay with Face ID for 36 AED. After a few mins, 149.99 AED were taken from my card by Betterme WITHOUT MY PERMISSION. They're stealing money sneakily. This is an unprofesional way to earn money and expand a business. This site is a fraud. Be careful and don't sign up for any of their plans.

Initially, I was excited to open a checking

Initially, I was excited to open a checking account with this company, but shortly after, my account got locked for no reason. Deposits were returned, and support hasn't fixed it despite promising to do so in three days. It's been over a week now. I need my money and will switch to another bank.

Worst bank ever! Please avoid this bank.

Worst bank ever! Please avoid this bank. I've lost a lot of money because of fraud, and they refuse to refund me. I’m taking legal steps against them. I have evidence from the merchant to file a dispute, but my bank still won’t help. Their support is terrible, and they don’t properly look into your claims, just saying "We found no mistake." This bank should be looked into!

My experience trying to reach these guys on the phone has been frustratingly long, with endless transfers for simple tasks

My experience trying to reach these guys on the phone has been frustratingly long, with endless transfers for simple tasks. They clearly don't prioritize customers' time. Business owners, beware—your time is precious, so it's worth exploring alternatives that value efficiency and respect your schedule.
