After using numerous moving companies

After using numerous moving companies for 15 moves, both locally and internationally, we encountered unprecedented issues with American Movers Direct. Compared to our previous experiences, this company falls short of being considered professional. We meticulously provided a detailed inventory, including precise dimensions and box counts for the move. Following our initial payment, our attempts to reach them were met with delays and calls directed to an answering machine, signaling a cause for concern. However, being financially committed, we proceeded. On moving day, while the movers adeptly wrapped and packed our belongings, they halted midway, citing an underestimation of the load by American Movers. They demanded additional payment before continuing. Despite reaching out to American Movers, we encountered inconsistent communication. While one representative claimed the initial agreement covered all items, another asserted that our inventory exceeded their quote, despite our detailed submission. The demeanor of the American Movers representative was discourteous, insisting on payment or alternative arrangements for the remaining items due to our time constraints, leaving us with little choice but to accept the inflated price. Given these experiences, I cannot conscientiously recommend this company for any moving needs.

Unprofessioanl - Buyer beware

We have used professional moving companies on 15 different occasions to move our personal belongs both domestically and internationally and never encountered issues like we did with American Movers Direct. Based on our past experiences, this company is not and should not be classified as a professional company. 1) We provided a very detailed inventory (exact dimensions and number of boxes) to be transported 2) After we made the initial payment, our calls went to an answering machine and it would take hours before they called back. This was definitely a red flag moment, but we had already committed thousands of dollars to our move, so had no choice but to continue with the move. 3) Moving Day, the movers did a good job of wrapping and packing our items, but halfway through they informed us that American Movers had underestimated the load and they had to re-quote. They refused to continue to pack our items until we agreed to pay additional thousands $$. 4) We contacted American Movers directly, but never spoke to the same individual. The individual I spoke to stated that the moving company had agreed to move all of our items for the pre-determined amount, but then he stated that they only provided a quote and that we had more items than they had quoted, which is still perplexing since we provided a very detailed inventory along with detailed photos of the items to be moved. 5) American Movers representative was rather rude, stated that we would need to pay or find another way to move the remaining items; since we were under a sensitive timeline, we had no choice but to agree to the new price. Alert, I cannot in good faith ever recommend using this unprofessional company.

AmericanMoversDirect provided an estimate

AmericanMoversDirect provided an estimate for a cross country move of $3040. $1040 was given as a deposit. I received an email 2 days before the move saying it was an estimate based on 400 cubic ft (pictures were provided). This was after an initial quote of $2700 based on a verbal description of furniture 4 weeks prior. I was asked to get a cashier's check for $1000. The movers arrived, took pictures, and then I received a phone call from Express Movers (who was the subcontractor of the move) that the new estimate was for 600 cubic ft and the new price was $4,100. This was because of an increased cubic fee and a carry & load fee. BEWARE: The carry & load fee is buried in the contract and nowhere in any correspondence was it mentioned. We sent the movers away. DO NOT DO BUSINESS with American Movers or Express Movers. They run a good scam.

American Movers Direct's support team is really kind.

American Movers Direct's support team is really kind. I had to stop my move with them 'cause my 2 yr. old doberman ended up in the ER - and they still managed to help out and do what they could. I’m realy grateful for Carley, who handled things with heart and patience. Thanks so much to everyone for putting up with someone not easy to handle (me), and sticking it out with me. I truly and fully apreciate it!

Best Movers that treated me like family

I am so pleased to report back we had an amazing experience with American Movers Direct and the carrier. They were on time and even preformed additional packing we needed help with for a very small fee. Definitely reasonably priced and I would recommend this service to all my friends and family. Thank You guys for making this a good experience.

I can't thank them sufficiently. They paid attention to what I needed and delivered. They were really dependable and worked hard to finish the job. The person in charge sorted everything out on the day and handed my son a cap, which made him very happy. I would for sure hire them again and will surely suggest them to my friends.

My sales woman did good

My sales woman did good at selling, but she charged me $200 extra when I checked cubic feet for my shipment. This wasn't honest. I should've been told upfront about the charge. Communication about my contacts wasn't clear. Richard Dawson was the best. Jesse Rodriguez from American Movers and Andre and Victor from TicTac Moving were great. TicTac and their carriers are recommended. Overall, pleased with Richard Dawson and TicTac.

Avoid! Don't trust!

My moving plan never happened due to upfront dishonesty. I trusted the salesman and signed a contract, thinking I could update or cancel it after 72 hours. He lied. His verbal lie left me unable to prove it. They're keeping my large deposit for two years if I still want to use their awful service. I lost money just walking away; who knows how much more they would've charged me. They also took advantage of my 78-year-old aunt. She requested a refund within 72 hours, but they convinced her to change her payment method, promising an "easier" refund. She agreed. They never gave her money back. She lost hundreds, and I lost thousands.

They cheat you out of your money.

They cheat you out of your money. Avoid dealing with Rodger or Jesse—they deceived me, lied. They took $1,600 to find a mover. They were fraudulent with my funds. Do not use them or anyone connected to them—scammed.

I wouldn't recommend this company. They keep taking more money from you without delivering what they promise, and every time you call, the charges just keep going up.

Do not ever go thru American Movers Direct

1 star is the lowest review possible, to me it is negative stars. Unfortunately I didn't read the reviews until after they called 2 weeks later to double the price. This company is a scam and should be shut down. If there is an oral agreement for services you should honor them. Wyoming attorney General should investigate this company and fine them to ultimately shut them down. Once they sent the contract for me to sign I no longer dealt with them. No I did not sign the contract. The only saving grace is the company that was brokered did a wonderful job. Hire a moving company directly, never go thru a broker. When you speak with them they never mention that they do none of the work. Ended up with K&G movers who did a wonderful job.

Based in Birmingham, Alabama… Richard and Justin are dishonest and use shady methods. The Attorney General should SHUT THEM DOWN for good. A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT is needed. Their quotes are false to charge you more. They refer you to a foreigner who will overcharge and keep your stuff for more than 30 days, with some items going missing or stolen, and then they ask for more money when they finally deliver. The foreign workers lie and block any attempt to escalate issues. ***GET THEM OUT OF BUSINESS AMERICA!!!!!

I just got my new furniture delivered, and I gotta say, these guys were amazing. They showed up on time, super friendly, and got right to work. Not a single scratch on my stuff, and they didn’t even touch the walls. Seriously, they were so careful, it was like watching a magic trick. Everything went smooth as butter. If I need more furniture moved, I’m definitely calling these guys again.

I had a terrible experience with this moving company. I called to arrange my move, and they assured me everything would be fine. They insisted on payment by check or money order, which seemed odd, but I went ahead since I needed to get things organized. I paid them with two checks. On my moving day, I didn't hear a peep from them. When I called, they said they were "looking for a truck to move me." Seriously? I waited five days, sleeping on the floor and paying extra rent. I kept calling, but they never reached out. Eventually, I decided to hire another mover and asked for my money back. They claimed I canceled the contract and refused to refund me. Richard and Benjamin from the company are crooks. Avoid this company at all costs. They took advantage of me, a senior battling cancer. They should not be in business.

I had a pretty rough time dealing with this moving company. They quoted me a fair market rate and assured me that as long as my inventory stayed the same, the rate wouldn’t change. I paid a $1020 deposit via Apple Pay to avoid an 8% fee if I used my debit card. I was a bit worried about not using my debit card, but the rep insisted I’d still be protected through Apple Pay. Right before my move, someone else called to go over my inventory list and suddenly, my rate jumped from $2200 to $4000! They assumed I’d go along since I’d already paid the deposit. But I refused and accused them of trying to scam me. I contacted my bank to dispute the charge and am waiting to see if I’ll get reimbursed. Regardless, I won’t give this company another penny. Stay away from them!

I had a really frustrating experience with these moving companies. First, I thought I was dealing with American Movers Direct, but then I started getting calls from J and H Logistics and Bronze Star Moving and Storage. It was so confusing! They kept trying to tell me my move with another company was canceled and that I needed to book with them instead. It felt really sketchy, and after a bit of digging, I realized they were all the same company pulling some sort of scam. It's so disappointing and stressful to deal with such shady business practices. Be careful and double-check who you're actually dealing with before booking any moving services!
