Memrise is planning to remove all community-made courses from their platform.

Memrise is planning to remove all community-made courses from their platform. It's a shame. I purchased a lifetime subscription mainly for these community courses, especially for offline use. When I contacted them about my situation, they refunded the full amount of my lifetime subscription fee from last year. Their policy seems fair to me, and I appreciate it.

    This platform is alright

This platform is alright for practicing a new foreign language, but some stuff is quite irritating. Learning a long sentence and repeating it in practice is pointless. I'd rather learn new single words than long sentences. I enjoy learning with video recorded natives in Memrise. It's very motivating. The point system is messed up. When you hit level 15 or 16, there's no point in gaining new points because the gaps between levels are too big.

    I am unimpressed with Memrise.

I am unimpressed with Memrise. They auto-renewed my subscription without warning. Since I switched from Android to iPhone, I couldn't cancel easily. Also, the Japanese course got too hard too fast. They didn't warn about the difficult kanji. I quit after a short time. Maybe it's better for other languages, but not for Japanese.

I've used Memrise for a long time, and it used

I've used Memrise for a long time, and it used to be a good language-learning app. Sadly, recent updates have been letdowns. The sudden removal of community courses, without any notice, has made it hard to find and use them again, and many of these courses lost their app functions too soon. The move of community lessons to a new online site has not gone well, with the new site often not working as it should. Also, the AI-powered learning tools have limited content and don't fit the student's level, making them not very useful for learning. The move towards a more game-like method has made it harder to pick up new words efficiently. To make matters worse, my subscription was renewed automatically without any warning, and I don't even remember setting this up. Overall, the new design and features feel like a big step back in terms of learning quality.

The app used to be decent

The app used to be decent. I had a paid membership for 25 euros a year last year. But now, the price has skyrocketed to 120 euros a year, which is a huge increase. Reading other comments here, it seems like a bad upgrade might be on the way, so this might turn into a similar situation I experienced with Duolingo.

I've been with Memrise for quite some

I've been with Memrise for quite some time. It used to be a good app. However, the recent update and the shift of community learning lessons to a new online platform seem problematic. From what I've observed, it doesn't function well. Additionally, the AI learning trial had only a few lessons available, leaving me with nothing new to learn. Given that I renewed my subscription in January, I'm quite disappointed with the current state of things.

    This company's recent changes are

This company's recent changes are disappointing. Depending on community courses for teaching, the abrupt removal from the app caught me off guard. Despite promises of a new app in the fall, the changes happened prematurely, causing inconvenience in accessing courses. Locating my courses became challenging, and the app's functionality for these courses disappeared months earlier than expected.

    DISAPPOINTING. Initially engaged

DISAPPOINTING. Initially engaged with a promising course that gradually enhanced skills. Abruptly, access was cut off. Memrise's recent overhaul resulted in a disheartening shift to user-generated content. The outcome is dismal—a lackluster collection of lessons presented carelessly, tarnishing the overall experience.
